Can I Get My Emergency Generator During a Storm
Emergency Generator Shipping Notice
Severe weather, like tropical storms and hurricanes, can have a devastating, lasting impact on the lives and infrastructure in affected areas. Evacuations, road closures, and container or driver shortages can make shipping emergency portable generators difficult, if not impossible, in some circumstances
Electric Generators Direct prepares as much as possible by stocking our warehouse and distribution centers before the season so that we can get your products shipped to you when a storm strikes. Check our carriers' websites below for any delays or closures that may delay your shipment.

Panic buying sets in very quickly during an emergency. By the time you drive down to the hardware store, the shelves are bare, and you realize everyone else had the same plan. In this case, the internet is your best bet for finding backup power.
When shopping for generators online, it's important to see what's in stock. In-stock items will ship quicker than items shipped directly from the manufacturer, or those that are on backorder.
Luckily, you can filter your results to shop "In-Stock Only". That way, you will only see generators that are currently in-stock and ready to ship.
Our Shipping PoliciesThe most common question we receive is, "How fast can I get my generator?" We offer several different shipping options to get you what you need in the most expedient manner.
By far, the most important step is ordering our emergency generator as soon as possible. Even if you can't get it in time before the storm hits, you will at least be able to get it as fast as humanly possible when shipping resumes.
Tracking Your Shipment
After placing an order, you will begin receiving shipping notifications from either FedEx or a Freight Carrier. The difference will be determined by the generator's weight and availability.
Most generator shipments over 150 pounds are made using freight carriers and loaded on trailers. Smaller inverter-type generators under 150 pounds may ship using ground shipping and may be eligible for 2nd-Day and Next-Day Air. Additionally, certain generators may even be stocked at one of our local distribution centers that will allow you to order the generator and pick it up the same day.
Once your order is on a truck, you will receive a tracking number to track your shipment with e-mail notifications. Hurricanes can cause service disruptions that are outside of anyone's control, so we encourage you to stay up to date on information impacting your area.
Pick Up at a Local Freight Terminal
If you order a generator that ships by freight carrier and want to shave time off of the delivery, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND contacting the freight carrier to see if you can pick up your order at their local freight terminal.
Again, once your order is placed and shipped, you will receive an email with a tracking number and the name of the freight carrier for your order.
Please Note: You must call the freight carrier to arrange a pickup. Generators are not stocked at shipping terminals. All generators will ship from one of our warehouses before they arrive at the local freight terminal. You will need to bring a photo ID that matches the name on the order to receive your generator. Your order will not be released if it doesn’t match.
Return & Cancellation Policies
During uncertain times, people need certainty, and we completely understand this. We strive to provide the best possible service by giving customers all of the information needed to get the right generator in a timely manner.
If you do decide to return or cancel your order, be sure to read and follow our Direct Return Policy.
