If you have a portable generator, you have some peace of mind that if the power goes out you will be able to power the basic necessities. Most of the time you think about the power going out, you think of spring thunderstorms, not winter snow or ice storms.

If you have a portable generator, most likely, you cannot power your furnace fan in the event of a power outage without a transfer switch. This 30 Amp Manual transfer switch allows you to run up to 6 circuits with the ability to expand... more

Very Easy Manual Transfer Switch Installation
The Generac 30 amp manual transfer switch was very easy to install next to the main circuit breaker panel. It was also very easy to change the number of circuits from 6 to 10. It would also be easy to add a 30 amp sub-panel fed by the transfer switch to increase the number of circuits beyond 10.

In my installation all the circuits being put on the generator were new, so I left the hot wires 4' long in the main panel. Then I simply removed the factory installed wires from each breaker in... more
