Product QuestionsAnswered by Jared, the Generator Expert
Hi Josh. What is the difference between this item and the Generac 6335? Are they basically the same item except for brand?

Answer
Thank you for your inquiry!
The Reliance Controls, TTH2003DR is designed to act as a service disconnect much like the Generac 6335. The products are similar in this way as will as the fact that they can support branch circuits.
The main difference between the two products is that the TTH2003DR is rated to handle only 30 amps of power from the generator while the 6335 is rated for up to 50 amps. Also, the Reliance Controls product will require the installation of a power inlet box, while the Generac 6335 has the 50 amp connection pre-installed.

I would like to put a small box outside with arm switch to go from incoming power (turn off incoming) and plug my propane generator to my house power line. Can this be done? Thank you

Answer
If you are going to use the generator to power your entire electrical panel and you have 200A service coming in then the Reliance Controls TTH2003DR would be the right switch.
This switch is mounted immediately after your electrical meter allowing you to switch from utility to generator where it will power your entire electrical panel.
Please keep in mind that portable generators are not large enough to power your entire electrical panel so you must properly manage the load so you do not overload the generator.
