Is the Honda EM5000 suitable to power sensitive electronics (i.e. does this generator produces clean power - less than 5% THD)?
Matt
from Florida
January 07, 2014
Answer
Thanks for your inquiry.
The EM5000 does not have inverter technology and is not recommended for running any sensitive electronics. Honda does have the EM5000iS which is an Inverter model and is safe to use with electronics.

Is there anything I need to know about these generators since they have a longer filler neck?
Karen
from Illinois
March 15, 2011
Answer
This generator has a longer filler neck and filler cap/dipstick for checking the engine oil.
This generator must not be filled with oil until the oil runs out of the filler neck. This will cause the engine to be overfilled with oil.
You must use the gauge in the oil filler cap/dipstick to verify the correct amount of oil in the engine. The engine is full of oil when the oil is up to the top of the cross-hatched area of the filler cap/dipstick. As always, do not screw in the filler cap/dipstick when checking the oil level.
You can find this information in the Owner's Manual as well.
