Generac Guardian Maintenance Kit for 10kW Home Standby Generators (530cc) (2008 to 2012)

This was just what was needed. The order came faster than what was quoted when I ordered it....would definitely order from ElectricGeneratorsDirect again!

Always best to use the genuine products when servicing your Generator. You know that you will get better service and life from the generator.

Basic order shipped and received promptly. Spark plugs were loose in large box with other components. Although nothing was damaged, you may wish to note packaging.

I ordered this unit following the Halloween Blizzard of 2011 on 11/2/11 to be exact unfortunately on 11/9 I was informed that my job was being eliminated! This unfortunate coincidence was offset by kind people who I had known for years and helped me get it installed cheaply and efficiently. The unit starts up for 10 minutes every Wednesday, like clockwork. I have tuned it up once (but recently purchased 2 backup kits).

The only drawback is that it doesn't power the AC (which I never turn on anyway) or the electric oven, but apart from that it can be relied on to start within a minute or 2 after a power outage and last for the duration (we have many in our area).
I was also 'lucky' to have ordered it before generators became the 'in' thing to have I understand electricians and plumbers are now charging substantially more for installs than I was
.
But don't let it deter you: shop for quality pros and bargain with them. Also, be sure to get the required permitting from your village or town (cheap) and follow-up CO!

It is critical to maintain the generator for peak performance. This complete kilt contains all the necessary components to ensure another year of reliable service. I would not have it any other way. I also recommend this kit for EVERYONE who has a generator

The generator worked flawlessly. It ran 24X7 for 5 days except for the 15 minutes a day I shut it down to check the oil level. I also had 2 neighbors plugged into my home for their refrigerators and some lights.

On the 7th day, we received a call from one of our plugged-in neighbors thanking us for using our generator. We told them no problem and I'd get my extension cord once we have power back. They said "we got power back 1/2 hour ago". With the automatic whole house switch, we never knew that our generator had shut down & we were back on the grid!

Thanks to the design of the generator, maintenance is very easy and not much to it.

I highly recommend this generator with the whole house switch (Nexus Smart Switch).

I live in a flood-prone Northern Jersey town, as seen on TV! After being spared by Hurricanes Irene & Lee last year I purchased the Generac 5871 and had it installed in March of 2012. I seemed overly prepared until "Frankenstorm " came along 2 weeks ago- leveling trees, poles, power & the NJ shore, Staten Island & Long Island.

This one was for real, folks.

The storm hit on a Monday & power was out by 3 PM. Being one of the lucky ones I had power return on Thursday night. Others are still two weeks later w/o power, some have no homes.

My Generac started up 10 SECONDS after power dropped out. Not needing it to run 24/7 I manually shut it down at night. It's a quiet unit, but it's still not silent! My neighbors did not mind, considering the situation.

It ran flawlessly. I had gotten the maintenance kit the week before because I wanted to change the oil & filter before winter and because you want to change it after the first 10 hours.

REMEMBER IT STARTS AUTOMATICALLY FOR 12 MINUTES TO CHECK THE SYSTEM, ONCE A WEEK.

Everything you need except oil comes with the kit and you won't find it for less. The oil change is simple and I did it "after the storm" within 30 minutes on Wednesday.

The generator, when ordered, arrived within days. It was in stock and the same for the kit.
