If I purchase the Generac 14KW model 6247 and the Genready Load center 5449, Will I need to purchase any additional items for hook up? Will the battery charger connect to the 5449 center?
Sam Stowasser

Answer
No additional items will be required from Generac, however, to properly connect the transfer switch to the generators battery charger within the generator controller your installing electrician will need to provide a 120V wire from the switch to the controllers T1 connection. This provides the required 120V to the controllers battery charger so it will operate properly.
Please consult with either a "certified" electrician or local Generac installer for installation assistance as they will be familiar with your local electrical code requirements.

Does this have a 200 amp main breaker?
What kind of breakers does it use and if they are special to this device, where can they be purchased?
Also, can this be installed without adding the standby generator at this time and it work properly for normal electric service?
Thanks

Answer
Thank you for your interest in Electric Generators Direct!
The Generac 5449, GenReady 200-amp ATS & load center is equipped with a 200 amp main breaker. This panel is Multi-listed for use with Siemens, Square D and GE 1” breakers. These circuit breakers can be purchased at your local electrical supplier, or hardware store.
You will not be required to have the generator installed in order to use this as a primary load center.

Can you suggest a generator package that will work with the Model 5449 Panel? Looking for something around 8-12kW. Thanks!

Answer
Any of the individual Generac home standby generators will work with model 5449 transfer panel.....here are links to the 8kW, 10kW and the 14kW models available.
Can you manually switch the 4559 transfer panel? Thanks.

Answer
Model 5449 is an automatic system only and cannot be manually operated. If you are in need of a manual system you should check out the Reliance Controls 200A transfer panels.....see link for details:
Please be aware that manual transfer switches are for portable generators only and automatic transfer switches are for permanent home standby systems only.
