If I buy one of these convenience cords and connect it to the 30 amp outlet on my generator, can I then connect a 16-gauge cord to it?

Answer
Yes, you can run a lower gauge cord from the convenience cord if it meets the specifications of the appliance. However, if you do not have an inverter generator and you're trying to power a piece of sensitive equipment like a laptop, computer, or TV, then the total harmonic distortion (voltage spikes) can cause damage to your micro processors on the equipment, regardless of your cord.
