Q: I just bought a GP 5000. Will this be able to run my 2 sump pumps in the case of an outage? by Sandy Mairs from New York on September 23, 2011
A: Yes, you should definitely be able to run 2 sump pumps during a power outage. by Jim, Product Expert
Q: Do you have the decible reading for the Generac GP6500....I'm looking for a fairly quiet unit in this watt range, and hoped you might have some suggestions. by Jack Stratton from California on March 15, 2011
A: Unfortunately, Generac, like many other generator manufacturers, do not publish the decibel ratings for their generators. This unit does come equipped with a Low Tone Muffler for Quiet Operation but I don’t have a decibel number to give you. Currently, there are no industry standards or requirements for generator manufacturers to follow when testing their generators for noise. Due to this, manufacturers can test the noise level under any conditions they choose and, therefore, the results are not very reliable as each company will test under conditions that are favorable to their products. by Jim, Product Expert
Q: Jim: I want to buy a protective cover for my Generac 5623 6500W portable generator (33.5" x 26.5" x 27.5"). Any recommendations for a cover that will fit this model of generator? by John G. Smith from Maryland on February 27, 2011
A: The Classic Accessories Large Cover will fit up to 8000 watts. We have tested these covers on all of the Generac GP model generators and other manufacturers.
Note: It is important to not include the wheels when measuring the width as the generator covers are not meant to cover them.
Q: Can a Generac GP6500 be set up to run on LP? by Anonymous on February 20, 2011
A: These units specifically designed to operate on gasoline only and if converted to LP the warranty would be void. by Jim, Product Expert

Perfect
Both products are perfect. The generator started after 2 pulls. Tested the connections and worked great. The switch kit was easy to install if you're a little handy.
I was anxious to use it a couple of times this season but fortunately we didn't lose power.
I would recommend both the company and the products.

Great Purchase!
I bought this generator about a month ago for home emergencies. I haven't had to use it yet (hopefully never have to), but it started right up out of the box.
I really like the support I received from Electric Generators Direct.

New Purchase
I ordered this 6500 generator late Monday afternoon, it was shipped out on Tuesday, and received in Florida on Friday afternoon in perfect condition. R&L Transport delivered down my driveway to my front porch!!!!!
After putting on the handles and tires I read the manual, then put in one half gallon of gas and let it set for 2 minutes. Then I pulled the starter rope and this thing started right up!!!!!
The pull-start rope is easy to pull, even for a old dude like me!!!!
I plugged in an electric device and all the outlets were just perfect!!!!
This is a well made unit and I couldn't be more pleased!!!!
Thank you Generac and Electric Generators Direct.

Started with the first weak pull and ran for 14.5 hours straight with no problems at a fundraiser for my son.
The Generac 6500 powered more appliances than I could count and it kept chuggin! Easy to assemble as it took all of 8 minutes and then it fired up.
I can tell we will be able to depend on it this winter. Spend the money on quality because it is more expensive to buy junk twice.

I Had a Generator Stolen and Needed One to Replace the Old One
I Got Twice the Generator For Almost 1/2 the Price From Electric Generators Direct.
Out of the Box, Installed the Wheels (Which Was Easy) Put in the Oil and Fuel
Opened, the Fuel Line to the Engine & Pulled the Rope One Time and It Started Up.
Who Needs An Electric Start When This Was So Easy?
If You Don'T Like Pulling the Rope Then Buy the One With the Electric Start.
I Will Never Buy Another Generator From a Retail Store When I Can Cut Out the Middle Man and Get It For Less

Compact, Powerful, & Quick Delivery
I just received my Generac. It was delivered on time and in one piece. The delivery man rolled it into my garage since I was not there and my wife had to accept delivery.
The only assembly required was to attached the 2 front wheels and the two fold down handles which was a snap.
After assembly I added 1 qt of oil, 5 gallons of gas and pulled twice on the rope starter and she fired right up.
Since I might be away when the power goes out I had my wife try to start the Generac and she too got it going after only 2 pulls.
I like the compactness of the unit, the amount of power generated for the price, and how quickly it was delivered.

Nice Piece Of Equipment
I have a 6500 Watt generator and own a home with geothermal heat and electric water heater, and a gas fireplace for backup heat.
This 10 circuit switch is a tad bit large for my generator, but I wanted the capability to have lights, microwave, sump pump, and refrigerator circuits powered, or by turning these circuits off during the day, I can turn the hot water heater on to heat our water.
Once the water is hot, I can shut the 220 circuit off and turn all eight of the remaining circuits on which would allow us to live normally.
I used the Q Series recess kit to recess into the wall. The total installation time was approximately five hours at a relaxed pace.
Anyone with basic carpentry and electrical skills can achieve the same results I have. Instructions were excellent.
Once I identified the circuits I wanted to operate on the generator, I used an amp clamp to pre-plan balancing the generator load, thus actual installation was a breeze.
I used small color dots, seen in the picture, to identify importance and these match up with the identical color dot placed in the main fuse box on the circuit breaker.
I have given a picture to display how nice the panel looks recessed. It's a nice piece of equipment.
In the future should the need again arise for either a generator or transfer switch, I definitely will buy from this company.
I found their help to be superb and highly recommend them.

Love The Weight Of It
I bought this generator after doing a lot of research. I got it in the garage and after oil and fuel, it fired right up (1st pull).
I love the weight of it with the wheels and handles. There's not much to assemble, and it came with oil and manual.
The Generac site has everything needed for reference and they are local for me Northern IL / WI.
The 6500 hooked up to my house for storms and ran everything except the water heater. I am very pleased. We shall see how she holds up during use with a lot of load draw.
There's a 2 year limited warranty from Generac, and a Good Housekeeing warranty too.
The generator runs for 9-10hrs at 1/2 load and only uses regular unleaded. It takes SAE 30 weight oil depending on the climate temperature.
My only complaint may be the plastic rimmed wheels... and I guess I can replace them if needed.

Great For Emergency Power
Our rural area got hit with a bad ice storm, knocking out our electric service for over three weeks.
I purchased this generator on the second day, and had an electrician pull my meter and wire it to the house directly.
For the three weeks that I used it, all I had to do was keep pouring the gasoline into it, and change the oil about 4 times.
I could run my gas furnace, electric water heater, refrigerator a couple of lights and a TV with no problems. To be safe, I switched off the water heater and was able to use my coffee pot and one burner on my range for cooking.
The generator took around 10 gallons of gasoline per day to run, but it was worth the expense because night time temperatures dropped to the mid to upper teens each night.
My only problem with the generator happened on the very last day that I used it (with just under 300 hours on the meter). The power began to fluctuate and sometimes drop out. Fortunately for us, the power company came by about two hours later and hooked us up.
I took the generator to a nearby authorized service center, and they repaired the unit at no charge to me under warranty.
I am so impressed with this generator, I am considering purchasing a Generac home standby generator.

I bought this generator last year after the wind storm we had (notice how everyone seems to need something after the fact!!)
Well, I ordered it and was in contact with Electric Generators Direct.com's customer service the whole time- it was sent promptly and was in great shape when it got here.
The power was back on the same day it got here but I am confident that it will weather the next storm.
It is built like a brick house and it is one of the best values I have seen, plus you can't beat the customer service!!
