Q: I have a Briggs & Stratton 5500 watt Storm Responder generator. Which cover should I purchase? Also, what material is the cover made of? by Curt Knaus from Missouri on August 31, 2011
A: This model is designed to fit generator up to 8,000 watts - so it'll fit your model just fine.
We check the box, and it doesn't mention the type of fabric.
However, it's high-quality flexible material. Not stiff plastic.
Plus, it features a strap to make it fit snuggly on the generator. by Jim, Product Expert

Q: I own a GP8000E. Which cover should I purchase? by Ron from Michigan on March 02, 2011

Q: Jim: I want to buy a protective cover for my Generac 5623 6500W portable generator (33.5" x 26.5" x 27.5"). Any recommendations for a cover that will fit this model of generator? by John G. Smith from Maryland on February 27, 2011
A: The Classic Accessories Large Cover will fit up to 8000 watts. We have tested these covers on all of the Generac GP model generators and other manufacturers.
Note: It is important to not include the wheels when measuring the width as the generator covers are not meant to cover them.

Jim's Recommendation
When you invest in a generator you need to make sure you are going to keep it clear of dirt, dust and the elements. For $29.99 you can protect your expensive investment.
You wouldn't leave your lawn mower or snow blower out against the elements when it is not in use, would you?
This large size cover will fit most generators up to 8,000 watts.

Preparing For The Future
During an unexpected early snow storm in New England October 2011, I lost power to my home. I decided to procure a portable generator to avoid the consequences and discomfort that the loss of power caused. I found Electric Generators Direct to have knowledgeable sales personnel who helped me with my questions. I tested my generator and found that it worked per design. The original cover went to a friend who lent me his generator while my power was out. I liked the look well enough to order the additional cover for my own generator.

I Agree With Poster Bob "Flimsy"
VERY flimsy and unfortunately does not look anything like the material in the one pictured. It comes in a small bag and total weight is probably 8 ounces or less. Something like a light summer rain jacket. I highly doubt this cover will last more than one season. Save your money.

Working Well
We lost our power 5 times in a matter of 2 weeks. I decided it was time to get a portable generator. I ordered a Generac model 5943 7500E. The experience was great with Electric Generators Direct. I received the generator two days later. The delivery experience was great with R and L carriers.
I just had a total knee replacement two weeks earlier so I couldn't do much. The delivery driver put the generator in my garage for me. I had to get out there and put the wheels and handle on the generator. Even with my limited capabilities I put the wheels on, the handle on and hooked up the battery in approximately 1/2 hr.
I put the gas in and followed the directions on the generator and it started up without a problem.
About a week later we lost our power again. I started the generator and put a power cord thru my door into the house. It was snowing so I took my hunters blind out and set it up. It kept the generator dry plus cut down most of the engine noise. We had power in the living room and also tv and a ceramic heater. It didn't phase the generator.
Since then I ordered a Reliance Controls 10 circuit manual transfer switch from Electric Generators direct and received it in two days. I am not an electrician but I got it hooked up and it is working well. I am now ready for the next power outage. Thank you Electric generators Direct, R and L carriers, and Fed Ex ground for making my buying experience a good one.

BRIGGS AND STRATTON 30470 GENERATOR
I was a little nervous. I knew that Briggs & Stratton 30470 was an excellent unit at a great price. I just wasn't sure how many pieces I had to put together. It was a piece of cake. 5 minutes and I was set. AT MY AGE (67) YOU CAN NEVER BE TOO SAFE.

Cover Not Worth The Money
Generator was delivered promptly and in excellent condition. Have not had opportunity to use it yet. However it is ready to go. The only negative was the accessory cover. Very light weight and is not really set up for this generator. Cover definitely not one that is pictured. Cover not worth the money.

Made Grandpop Smile!
I bought this generator for my 86 yr old dad. He always envied the "dinosaur "Y2K generator we bought 12 years ago. NOT AN ELECTRIC START!
My son found this site on-line and EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTH.It was not only a professional buying experience, quick, FREE DELIVERY, but the accessories suggested take all of the guessing out of sizing(cover) and hook-up.
After consulting our electrician,he said the Reliance transfer case was a good deal, the cover fit perfectly. The electric star t& quality with a great warranty!
Really, no"Box Store" could touch this deal for quality and price. Our electrician had all that was necessary to do a great hook up and when my dad pushed that button, it lit up a smile that I hadn't seen in years!
GREAT GIFT,only problem,my husband wants one!
P.S. I got my husband a snowblower from their " sister company" Snowblowers Direct. Both arrived the week before Christmas!
Same great deal, no hassle everything according to specification. Of course we haven't seen snow or a power outage since!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE GUYS

There is no better place to purchase a generator. The web site is easy to navigate, the reviews and recommendations are trustworthy, and the shipping is timely.
We bought this as a replacement for our 14-year old Homelite generator with Briggs & Stratton engine. We loved our old generator using it with our RV on trips and really used it the last four years working at our property which has no electricity. This new one, the 30471, went together easily and started the first time we tried it. All of the controls & outlets are together on one side and easy to use. The covered outlets are wonderful with the snow that we have been having here. I do not know how we got along for so long without electric start and the wheels are a wonderful addition, as well.
Most of all, we are amazed and delighted that it is SO VERY QUIET! My husband wanted a Honda because they are so quiet and we looked at them. They have priced themselves out of our range and I cannot imagine that they are much more quiet than this one. The first words out of my husband's mouth when I kicked over the new Briggs & Stratton were "It is quieter than the Hondas that we use at work!!" I said "and it did not cost half as much as a Honda, dear." This purchase was an EXCELLENT VALUE. We cannot recommend it highly enough.
WE LOVE IT!!!

Great Purchase
Bought this generator to backup power at my house. The utility power tends to go out a couple of times a year.
This generator can handle all the power needs I have, including two 1500 watt heaters. So far, this is a great purchase.

Ran flawlessly
Purchased it 4 weeks ago. Easy setup. Started right out of the box. 2 weeks later lost power in our house for 3 hours. Ran the generator for 2.5 hours and it ran flawlessly.
Check back with me in 2 years to see how it is going. So far I definitely recommend and love this product.

EGD - Excellent, Generac 5747 - Not So Sure Yet....
First, I'm pleased with EGD and R&L Transport. My purchases were processed quickly, I was informed of the status, and shipping and delivery were as expected. I will definitely purchase from EGD in the future.
Re: my XG800E Experience:
It was very difficult to start-up and keep running at first. The oil level was correct, there was gas in the tank, fuel shut-of was "ON", seemed to be spark, but wouldn't start-up. I found a "U" bend in the gas line at the fuel shut-off, which might cause the problem - it was facing upward before turning downward to the carb. I only had about 2 gals of gas in the tank and don't think there was enough weight to push it through. I rotated the "U" bend downward and it seems ok now. Nonetheless, I start the engine every few days to gain confidence in it. It's been ok for the last week.
The handle bar lock mechanism broke the second time I lifted the generator to move it out of my garage. It's been about 2 weeks since the repair shop ordered the part and I'm waiting for it to arrive and be installed.
I am surprised at the problems that I've experienced with my generator. Generac does have a reputation for quality products and all the reviews of the 5747 are positive. I do hope to gain confidence that my XG8000E will be a reliable source of power when I need it in the future.
Re: Accessories:
The Century and Powermate 30A cables are as expected. The Classic large cover fits the XG8000E perfectly.
