Hurricane Victims Flocking to the Internet to Find Generators

ROMEOVILLE, IL (August 28, 2005) - Hurricane season is in full bloom, and so has the massive scramble to find an emergency generator.

While generators are next to impossible to find locally, web savvy shoppers are finding a limited supply of generators online.

Electric Generators Direct.com, an online emergency generator superstore, still has a few dozen new generators and several hundred reconditioned generators in stock. WHAT'S IN-STOCK?

Jon Hoch, founder of the Romeoville, Ill.-based e-tailer, expects to sell out of his remaining inventory in the next few days.

"If your lucky enough to find a generator locally, buy it," says Hoch. "If you're not, your best bet is to have one on the way than none at all."

If you buy online, you won't receive your generator before Hurricane Katrina hits. Most roads are expected to close soon for evacuations.

However, hurricanes-induced power outages can last up to a month. According to Hoch, most homeowners will be happy, knowing that reinforcements are on the way.

Electric Generators Direct.com plans to ship all weekend orders on Monday from their Chicago or Omaha, Neb. warehouses. Customers can expect to see their generators toward the end of the next week depending on when the roads reopen.
