Impressed
Ive been through multiple hurricanes in S. Florida with this generator and it's never given me a problem. Like everything, it's all about maintenance. If you follow the maintenance schedule, you shouldn't have any problems when attempting to start it up. I live in a 2,900 sq ft two story home.

During the day I'll run all major appliances which includes the A/C (FAN MODE). Never the Clothe Dryer, Water Heater or Stove simultaneously.

At night I'll run the A/C (FAN MODE), basic... more

Comes Out Of The Box For Irma
Purchased this generator about 12 years ago from Costco. Never had it out of the box until today. Added oil and gas and a good pull brought it to life. Running great.
Pros: Quiet, Price, Exceeded Expectations, Reliable

"Though I did not purchase the generator from this site it's one of the few that kept information on this now discontinued generator. I could not find run time in the manual but it was clearly available on this site 12 years after I purchased. That's great support and helpful for us living through Irma. Thank you!"

Do Not Buy This Cheap Engineered Piece Of Crap
This piece of junk is designed so it is impossible to change the oil without banging up your hand trying to get the oil plug out. Then you cannot put a pan under the drain therefore, you get oil all over the place. Then you cannot pour the new oil in because the oil fill spout is pointed down. If you make oil run uphill go ahead and get this cheaply engineered piece of shit.

Beware
I bought mine about 3 1/2 years ago has run good. Got 40 hrs on it now. Last week started it no power output. Hmmmm took it to service center. $850.00 to repair plus the $60 they charged to inspect it. Seems the rotor and something went bad just sitting. OUTRAGEOUS!

Discontinued For A Reason
Warm up protection failed after 80 hours, generator would start and run beautifully but would not generate any power. Customer Support said it was a known issue with the "warm up timer". Also under constant load generator runs fine, but with heavy loads starting and stopping the voltage regulation leaves a LOT to be desired. This will get you by in a pinch but its not advised to run electronics if something big like a well pump will be kicking on or off.

Doghouse Update 11-20-08
I have since added 2 more outdoor lights on my semi-truck to my generator's load.

I have had this gen since 7-19-07, and it now has 980 hours on it. I have never had to pull it more than once to start it.

I have it plumbed into 2 fuel tanks that are 32 gallons each and it's fed by a 12v electric fuel pump from a distance of about 11 feet.

Once I start my gen I NEVER shut it off for anywhere from 1.5 days to 5 days. I change the oil every single time I shut it off. I clean the air... more

Powerboss 7000 Watt Portable Generator W/ Honda Engine Review
I just purchased this generator after reading the reviews on it and what it can power, but for me, all I had running was 2 refrigerators and a freezer and when my well kicked in, it just bogged down. Not just for a second, but it keep pulsating for at least 8 seconds. Just think if I had other things running. For a 7000 running and a 12000 surge, I was very disappointed. Of course in all fairness, they may be something wrong with it. Also, it is very loud, like mentioned and when you change the... more

Powerboss 7000 Watt Portable Generator W/ Honda Engine Review
Runs my 15,000 watt roof air conditioner on max cool, dual 500 watt exterior halogen lights, single 8' twin tube fluorescent light, 4 4' twin tubes fluorescents, elec 5 cu ft refrig, 1200 watt microwave on high, portable electric heater with fan on high, laptop computer on, hair blow drier on hot ALL AT ONCE.

During testing this unit, it barely blips at all when adding load. I finally reduced the speed about 50-100 rpm, and it still does all I need.

Now, I am wired into the 30 amp... more

Powerboss 7000 Watt Portable Generator W/ Honda Engine Review
Had it a month. Starts, runs, and takes load like a champ. Not that noisy considering its a 13 HP engine But be prepared for a mess when you change the oil! The drain plug is right over the engine support frame. Saw this coming and made a sheet metal trough, but it wasn't good enough! How will America's technical supremacy ever be re-established, when a major technological corporation like Briggs & Stratton can't, or won't, get the easy stuff right?

Powerboss 7000 Watt Portable Generator W/ Honda Engine Review
This generator got me through a 2 day power outage after recent flooding here in Washington state.
It powered all lights, refrigerator, well pump & sump pump, and small appliances like a television & DVD player. We alternated between other large appliances (washer/dryer, dishwasher, range), being careful to only run 1 at a time. Enabled the electric water heater at night.
I overloaded it once with 2 water heaters & 2 refrigerators. It ran for 30 minutes then blew a fuse. The... more

Powerboss 7000 Watt Portable Generator W/ Honda Engine Review
Got this generator about two months ago. Put the wheels on, filled it with gas and oil then started it right up...no problem...first pull!! In a test, it powered a fridge, freezer, water pump, microwave, furnace fan and some lights. It had more to go. Just waiting for the next storm :-)

Powerboss 7000 Watt Portable Generator W/ Honda Engine Review
I bought this unit as a replacement for a smaller Honda powered unit that I had for ten years. My small unit was great for the old house, which had city water. The new house has a well and the smaller unit could not handle the well pump.

After what must have been the 6 or 7th power outage this year I choose this unit as a replacement upgrade. I pulled it out of the box, added the wheels and handle per the simple instructions, added gas and oil- and it started on the first pull. Super... more
