| Easy Way To Mount A Portable Generator |
| By Tom Skowronski (Glendale, AZ) |
I purchased this generator for my travel trailer. I am running a 15,000 BTU air conditioner and the unit I had did not have the capacity to satisfy the trailer's electrical needs.
This unit performs tremendously! It is quiet, starts with the turn of a key and maintains clean voltage. The drawback ( that cannot be helped) is the weight: 194 pounds dry. My wife and I are 55 years old and my days of lifting ridiculous amounts is well in my past.
We have to put this on the pick-up bed, so we bought 2 motorcycle ramps for a total of $78. I drilled a 38 inch hole in the end of each ramp and in the inside portion of my tailgate corresponding to the width of the tires on the generator. I put bolts through the holes and it is a perfect, non-moving ramp.
Because I like to play with stuff I also built a simple block and tackle with a double roller tackle unit, and now my wife can pull the unit up herself with ease. Don’t be discouraged if the weight issue bothers you- $78.00 cures the problem and is well worth having the extra power.
Awesome generator! |
