Q: I have a customer running propane on a Yamaha genset. While burning propane the engine burns excessive oil, not a problem on gasoline. Any ideas?
by Shane Bland from Florida on June 24, 2014

A: The Yamaha portable generators are engineered and warranted to operate on gasoline only. The reason your customer is burning through oil is due to the excessive temperatures of the unit.

Gasoline burns at 485 degrees F whereas propane burns at 1008 degrees F which will cause excessive heat within the engine in turn burning off the engine oil.

by Mike, Product Expert
Q: How frequently do I have to change the motor oil? On the specs it only says to change it after the first 20h, and after this first change?

by Jordi from Wisconsin on March 13, 2014

A: The maintenance chart on page 26 of the owner's manual shows the recommended oil change time frame (every 6 months or 100 hours).

Q: Can you get a remote start kit with Yamaha EF3000iSEB?
by Ed Krank from North Dakota on March 24, 2013

A: We list the appropriate remote start kit for the EF3000iSEB in the accessories tab on the generator page.....here is the link to the kit....

Q: If I buy a Yamaha EF3000i for work an play. My question is if I use the gen to charge my 12 volt 100 amp battery, how long would it take? And would using the gen be more efficient and time saving rather than getting solar panels or a wind gen to charge the batteries when using batteries for power?
by Ron Jolin from Minnesota on February 05, 2013

A: This power source is designed to charge batteries up to 40 Ah (Amp hours) that are half-discharged. Do not charge batteries of a higher capacity then 40 Ah.

12VDC Battery

The time required for recharging a battery varies depending on the discharge level of the battery. When the specific gravity of the battery reaches 1.26 to 1.28, charging is complete. When charging, check the battery's specific gravity once an hour.

The average time for charging a half-discharged 40 Ah battery is approximately 5 hours. Be sure to check the battery fluid level before charging.

Notice:
**Do not connect any load to the battery or use the engine starter motor while charging. This causes higher current to flow through the generator which will burn out the coil.
**Do not connect a VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead Acid) battery. To Charge a VLRA battery, a special (constant-voltage) battery charger is required.

Q: What is a inverter generator?
by Francine Breland from New Jersey on December 28, 2012

A: An inverter generator is a power generator that can process raw power into a power feed similar to the power received through power lines. The generator part of an inverter generator is usually powered by gasoline or diesel fuel. "Inverter" means that the power is converted from direct current (DC) into alternating current (AC).

Typically inverter generators are much smaller then standard open frame style generators and tend to operate at very low noise levels. This makes them perfect for tailgating or camping and in some cases able to power one or two items in your home in an emergency.

Q: How much does this weigh?
by Angrew Staton from North Carolina on June 11, 2012

A: The Yamaha EF3000iSEB weighs 152 lbs. This information is available on the product page under the specs link in the overview section.

by Mike, Product Expert
Q: I just bought this generator from you and the manual says you must ground the generator. Is this necessary? if so, how do you do that?
by Brad Wendkos from Florida on April 26, 2012

A: All generators must be grounded for safety. There is a grounding lug on the generator where you would take a copper wire and attach it to a grounding pole that is pounded into the ground. The pole must be a minimum of 6 - 8 feet down based on electrical code.

You can tie it to your houses grounding pole if your home has one since some older models, before coed was established, did not have a grounding pole.

When in doubt you can contact your local city inspector or a local certified electrician.

Q: Will the EF3000ISEB run a 15000 BTU RV roof top A/C?
by Gil from Texas on February 20, 2011

A: With the boost technology this may run your RV A/C but we recommend you check the starting amp load to calculate the true starting wattage. Starting Amps x Volts = Watts.
by Mike, Product Expert
Q: What is the surge rating on model EF3000iSEB?

by Kevin from Washington on January 29, 2011

A: The running watts are 2800 and the surge capability is 3000 watts.

Electric Generators Direct Recommended

Yamaha manufactures two versions of a 2800 watt generator. Both units are great.

We recommend the EF3000iSEB, however, because it features "Boost Technology". Basically, it has the ability to generate a surge of extra electricity for 10 seconds.

Why is this important? If you plan to run an RV air conditioner, the extra boost is often needed to jump start the air conditioner.

If you don't plan to power items with motors, the other Yamaha EF3000iSEH will serve you well. It's... more

Just Love My Yamaha Ef3000iseb Generator
WE bought the EF3000iSEB. Easy to operate. Very economical. Used about 3 gallons of gas in 8 days. Used generator about 3 to 4 hours daily. Also very quiet compared to the Onan and Honda. We were out camping at the Hill Country State Natural Area Park. And Onan and a Honda generator were running and of course my Yamaha was the quietest of all three. I'm very pleased with my Yamaha generator. I saved money using my generator verses paying for hook-ups to power. It also fits perfectly under... more

Rating Of The Yamaha Ef3000iseb - 2800 Generator
I had made the purchase of this Yamaha Generator for my Sister and Brother-In Law as a replacement. Theirs had slid out the door of my tent trailer on the way back home from an October 2013 Deer and Elk hunt in North Eastern Nevada. I felt bad about the loss, so I replaced theirs (we went in 50-50 on the Purchase). I personally would not have spent that much money on a Generator, only because I have a tent trailer and the 2000 watt Generator would work just fine (my tent trailer has no air... more

Excellence Doesn't Come Cheap
This is a great generator. More power than stated, starts like a breeze, quiet and easy setup. I didn't get the remote start, reportedly it runs down the battery. I have used this to power tools, etc, but no A/C yet.
Pros: Quiet, Easy To Use, High Quality, I'd Buy It Again

Dry Camping In The Summer In Colorado
My son and I took our 30ft travel trailerto a model rocket competition and dry camped for 7 days in the open, on top of a hill in Colorado.

It ran my 13K BTU AC easily and kept the trailer at 72 degrees even when the outside temp was in the high 90s. I also used about half the gas that I expected to use. Very quiet too.

This unit is expensive, but I am glad I chose to spend the extra money. Super easy to start and run and refuel without spilling a drop.

Now I just hope I get a... more

Great Generator
I bought the EF3000ISEB from EGD about 2 months ago. As for the generator in my opinion it is by far the best generator out there. I took it to a NASCAR race and it was great. It was so quiet and powered everything I needed in my 34ft RV. I would recommend this generator if you intend on using this generator for this purpose.

Yamaha Generator
It was a pleasure to do business with PED. Everything from the ordering to the delivery went smoothly. When I received the generator I unboxed it and set it up right away. I am familiar with the Yamaha because I have borrowed the same model from a friend. Setup was very easy and with a twist of the key it was running. I instantly plugged in my travel trailer and tried everything. Worked perfect and very quiet. I was torn between the Honda and the Yamaha. Seriously, the only difference... more

Purchased For Travel Trailer W/ 13,500 Ac Unit
Generator has no trouble running my trailer 13,500 AC unit or any other appliances. It will even start the AC in economy mode. The unit does overload when running the 1000w microwave and the AC w/compressor...which is not surprising. The generator is relatively quiet, especially in economy mode. It appears to be well built and is easily operated, although it's a bit heavy at 150+ lbs and requires two grown men to lift. It's a quality unit that should do the job for many years.
Pros: Easy To Use, Quiet, Durable, High Quality
Cons: Heavy

Great Generator
Bought this in case we have to evacuate in a Hurricane and for power outages. It powers my 32 ft RV trailer. I can run my 15,000 BTU A/C unit and lights, TV, etc with no strain on this generator. I bought it instead of the Honda due to the power boost feature as I suspect the Honda may have difficulty with my A/C. It also has wheels but I wish they were steerable.
Pros: Features, Easy To Use, Quiet, Easy To Store
Cons: Expensive

Yamaha Ef3000iseb
I've had the Yamaha 3000 for 5 weeks now. It runs everything easily and then some. Since I'm a snowbird I wanted a generator that would handle anything my 30 amp camper would run. It runs everything easily and then some. I run it out of the back of my pickup.

Electric generators direct were easy to work with. The generator came when they said it would. Of course it came by truck in perfect condition. the truck driver helped me unload it and I opened it up to see if there was any damage. I... more

I over think every purchase I make. I did exactly that, when considering buying a $2K plus generator. But I am so happy with this product, I wish now I had pulled the trigger sooner.Exceeds ALL my expectations. Very, very quiet, in fact I ran it late one night in a public campground and didn't think it was loud enough to bother anyone. In fact some people walked by and until they got within about 50 ft of it, didn't even hear it.

It is heavy, but use a ramp to load it in the back of your... more
