| What is a PTO Generator? |
| By Michael J (Bolingbrook, IL) |
A generator is basically an engine and an alternator.
You already have an high-powered engine on your tractor. A PTO generator is actually the missing alternator that you need to make electricity.
On most tractors, you’ll find a Power Take Off (PTO) driveshaft, which allows the tractor’s engine to provide power to an attachment (mower, spreader, chipper, etc.)
Simply use a tumbling bar (sold separately) to connect your tractor to the PTO generator, and you’re ready to generate electricity.
PTO generators are the perfect companion on a farm or ranch. You can operate power tools far away from distant utility poles. Plus, you can use a manual transfer switch to restore power to a house, barn or building during an outage.
Besides the PTO generator itself, you may need some accessories. For example, you’ll need a tumbling bar to connect the tractor to the generator. Don’t forget to purchase a trailer or three-point hitch for easy mobility.
Finally, PTO generators are built to last. They require no maintenance and have a useful life many times greater than ordinary portable generators. |
