Q: What is an inverter generator? by Gary Mason from New York on August 06, 2012
A: An inverter generator is a power generator that can process raw power into a power feed similar to the power received through power lines. The generator part of an inverter generator is usually powered by gasoline or diesel fuel. "Inverter" means that the power is converted from direct current (DC) into alternating current (AC). Inverters are in direct contrast to rectifiers which turn AC power into DC power. Companies that manufacture inverter generator machines include Honda, Yamaha and a few more. These generators will provide a very clean and stable power that is very safe for use with sensitive electronics and will generally be much quieter than your standard portable roll cage frame type generators. by Jim, Product Expert

Nice Unit, But...
Nice unit and it's built extremely well.
However, for the same price, you can get a Honda EU2000 which has more power AND you can bridge 2 Hondas together for 4000 watts.
RobinSubaru needs to bump this up to 2000 watts if they want to compete with Honda.
It's the best generator I've ever owned. Super quiet and in auto mode, it even responds to the blank tv time between commercials and revs down, instantly! Sips fuel, and incredibly well designed. Pricey, but it's a mercedes for sure.
Just got one of these little babys, it is a great generator because it puts out quite a bit more than the 1000w units, but a little less than the 2000w. In other words, it puts out the perfect amount of juice for camping or running small tools, and efficient to run a long, long time on very little gas. Still made in Japan.....or at least mine is.
Great little generator that hums to the sound of electricity. Customer services was great; I had it serviced once free of charge with no hassle. Subura replaced the unit with a new one. I paid hefty for it but I enjoy the low noise, lightweight and long running time.
The price may seem a little high but wait until you learn ROBIN quality. You won't howl anymore. This very quiet model can run most of the things in your house if you run them one at a time. I won't gobble fuel and the low noise and long running time make it very nice. Just please take care of this fine machine and it should serve you well.
