Model 5875 With 2 Nexus Smart Witches
I replaced a Guardian model 04390-1 that has served me well for the last 9 years. I just wanted to upgrade so I could get my a/c units on the backup system.

My location had 3, 200 amp panels with 2 in the basement and 1 in the garage as a sub panel where the original generator was connected. I had to remove the 200 amp disconnect for garage ( panel "C" ) and use 1 of the new Smart switches to replace it, which I mounted outside by the meter.

The other smart switch I put in the... more

Dlm
I was also surprised that the DLM are always activated when you have normal utility power to your home. I have 4 DLM mounted on a plywood wall. I don't have the swarm of bee's sound coming from any of the DLM except when I touch one of then I can feel a vibration which could end up turning into a small bee hive. There is a engineering flaw with Generic DLM. The relays should not be on during normal power operation. I would like to know which company DLM only activate when there is a power... more

Say What?
I ordered four DLM modules for my new system. I was surprised to learn the that they are normally activated and do their thing (shed the load) when deactivated. That means they draw power 24-7 and hum like a nest of bees 24-7. The other contactors I've used operate only when needed. Don't mount these things indoors on a sheetrock wall if you want to keep your sanity.

Generac 5875, Rtsd200a3 & Dlm Modules
Before you order up your transfer switch and generator, I would suggest doing load calculations before hand.

I am running all electric heat (3 dbl pole breakers), Well, Hot Water Tank, Range and Dryer for 240V loads. I got the transfer switch RTSD200A3 with my 20KW 5875.

It comes with (2) built in load sheds but they were designed for small load. It ended up I had to purchase (4) DLM modules to shed enough load to pass state electrical inspection.

It is a nice set up and seems to... more

Manual For 5937 Dlm Module
If you are looking for the manual for the 5937 DLM go to http:www.generac.com/Service/ManualSearch and search on 0059370.

(The Generac web interface seems to make it as difficult as possible to get their manuals.)
