The Generac XP series are engineered specifically with contractors and construction sites in mind. All models have the Generac OHVIģ engine. These models are built to withstand extended job site use.

We were lucky enough to open up one of these units and really get in there and check it out. It is a very high quality machine. Even the way the accessories are packed in the box tell you how much attention is given to this premium Generac portable line. This truly is a professional... more

Whats Happened To Generac?
Last year, I bought the XG1000E generator. One month later the starter and its relay went crazy. So this is what happens. It is upon YOU to find a authorized dealer and drop it off. It will take then a while to look at it. Then they will ask for parts. This will take one to 4 weeks. Then they will finish the repair.
They got it fixed 4 weeks later.

Since then I have a muffler that will not hold bolts into it. The muffler bracket is steel, but shattering and falling off to. Guess what,... more

Really Nice Generator
Except the battery for electric start is junk. I took the panel off and built a angle iron bracket to put a garden tractor battery in it. Just extended the cables. That's the only downfall I have had.

Gfic To Sensitive
Would not purchase this generator again. I purchased it mainly for the clean AC signal. However because of the distance between the transfer switch and the generator, I get nuesince trips. Had to move the generator closer to the house. Now it's in a non sheltered area. Also, a better charger should be supplied, not one that can over charge the battery.

John,
John,
I'd suggest contacting an electrician. You're using the correct switch for the generator and the distance really shouldn't be an issue for your application.

The most likely reason you're getting trips is because there is a bad GFCI (outlet) or loose wire on one of the circuits you're trying to power. A GFCI outlet has a lifespan of roughly 10-years. If it's an outlet that's used often, it could be much shorter than that.

Business Owner
The generator arrived with no visible problems. It was very simple to put together. Generator would not start. The start/run/stop switch did not work at all. After a number of phone calls that ended in' zero' help except to try to find a service center shop somewhere. I put the unit on my woork bench to be able to look more closely at the internals. By the way,I have an engineering degree in both electrical engineering and mechanical engineering from The City University of New York. I found... more

Arrived Doa
Generator goes into fault mode the moment a 4 cable 30 amp cord is plugged in, dealing with Generac warranty repair has got me no place. Unit was received with gas lines not securely in place, from the looks of it this unit was never checked at the factory.

Minor Problem
Overall the Generac XP8000E is a very high quality generator. The only issue was the off switch didn't work. To shut down the unit I had to close the gas valve and let it run out of gas. When I called the Generators Direct "technician" I was told that this was normal. Not satisfied with that answer I decided to look behind the dash board and discovered a wire on the rear of the ďon/off/startĒ switch was not connected. I simply reconnected the wire and the unit shut down... more

Old School American
Purchased several years ago, Chinese battery died in 6 mo. Could not replace from local battery stores due to custom size and shape battery made for Generac. Can not rebuild or clean leaking carb it must be replaced, disposable ! Made in china. No fuel line filter. When it runs well it does hold 120 and 220 volts steady with a load.
Pros: Easy To Use, Durable, Quiet, Starts Easy With Electric Start When Cold
Cons: Low Quality, Durability, Expensive, Foreign Parts China China

Pricey For A Portable But So Far So Good
Without a doubt EGD has the best selection and best prices- period.

Now, onto the generator: first off the battery was dead right out of the box, dead meaning wouldn't take a charge. But the generator was sitting in the garage for year before I even opened it up so I'm not deducting points for it and it's not a Generac battery.

Setup was easy, I was missing the pre-filter shown in the directions but I picked one up from a local shop for a few bucks. The generator fired right up, and I... more

My New Xg8000e Generator
I am very pleased with my Generac XG8000E electric start generator, and Reliance Control's 30310AK transfer switch. That I purchased from EGD. The generator arrived in excellent condition, and started quickly.

The generator easily powers my two HP submerged well pump, although I cannot run the water heater at the same time. We alternate them. My only regret is that I didn't purchase a somewhat larger generator and a transfer switch with more circuits to enable us to operate the... more

Generac Sp8000e - Very Happy
I bought this generator to replace, or supplement, my 12 year old Generac 4000EXL which has powered us thru numerous power outages. The 4000EXL enables us to live comfortably by carefully managing our power usage however, it can not power my 3 hp well pump.

The XP8000E arrived in a very timely fashion and I had no trouble getting it going. I plugged it into my external house power plug and switched my transfer switch and it worked beautifully, including running the well pump. A week after... more

Expensive But Very Nice (worth It)
Great Generator. I use it to back up the entire house (except the central air). Very easy to start. If you want to save some money get the non electric start / pull start but the electric start is worth the extra bucks. It also comes with a pull start as back up, and it starts on the first pull every time :-)
Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Reliable, Easy To Store
Cons: Expensive

Strong And Reliable
I bought this generator and took it camping with me for a week this past June. I ran the generator all day and late into the evening with success great for keeping the air conditioning on in the camper.

And at home, the generator doesn't flinch when powering my appliances and sump pump during power outages. It's very easy to pull start. Usually, by the second or third pull, it's running. The only downside to this generator is the noise. It's really loud.

But overall, it's a sturdy... more

Generac Xp8000e
I purchased my Generac XP8000e in the first part of May. The reasons I chose the Generac XP model was because itís THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) value is listed 5%. Over the years I noted that THDís are a significant benchmark as to the quality of the electrical source and should be =5%. It also has a pressurized lubricant system on the engine, and oil filter. It has an AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) on the generator. Iíve tried it twice. The voltage is consistent at 118 v and the... more

Well Equipped & Better Prepared
EGD Tech support was essential in my ability to make an informed decision on appropriate equipment. Customer Service was also professional and focused on customer satisfaction. My Generac model XP8000E arrived as promised and in excellent condition. The generator assembly was minor and it started on the first attempt.

Bad weather has hit us hard in upstate New York with downed trees and flooding causing utility outages.

Great Equipment
What a great piece of equipment.

I have been in the construction business for 40 years, and we have purchased a great deal of equipment over the years- this rates with the best.

PED'S is one fine company to do business with.
