Kind Of Silly Looking But Works
I live in very rural Spokane where we can loose our power sometimes for 4 or 5 days or more, but generally a day or so is common. It snows quite a bit, so it's not practical to move it from the storage shed to out side each time the power goes off. Therefore, I need to leave it out side. I think this little tent deal might work OK. We had our first rain last night and seems every thing is dry and ready to go.

Heavy Duty Cover
This cover is nice, but it is a pain in the "you know what" to install--for the simple reason, that you have to take the handles off of your generator.

The instructions that come with this cover are not as good as they should be, but the video on their web site are great...the instructions that come with the cover also give you suggestions on how to make the installation easer---you can replace the bolts that hold your handles on with clevis pins, which make for easer detachment of... more

Manufacturer Response
Brand Rep
William,
Hi William, thanks for your review. The handles on this particular Generac do pose some challenges and the clevis pins will work well; it is something we've wrestled with but finally found the folding handles option. Regarding construction of the GenTent, perhaps this background will help. We use a high grade glass filled nylon for the injection molded parts, stainless steel for the knobs/washers. This particular GenTent is 100% manufactured in the USA, including the fabric and genuine Velcro. USA Manufacturing labor costs are significant - this includes sewing and even welding the seams to ensure water proofing, and you can see there is no compromise taken. Even the fiberglass rods are made in the US of a special dual-catalyst formulation to ensure long lasting strength. Should you have any issues you will find us ultra-responsive and supportive of your 3 year warranty. thanks again, Mark Carpenter, Owner/Inventor

Cover Is Tops (with A Small Adaption)
I was well pleased with the Gen tent, but I had to adapt it to my aching back. The handles should be left in their original position, since I could not bend down and lift the generator, with the handles down low as shown. I cut a small slot in the canopy, and put the handles back in their original position, and sealed the canopy around the handles, and everything is a/ok.

Stormy Weather
Living in south Florida means rain whenever and electric outages

This means I can run my generator in the rain and supply power to my business during the day. Rain or shine
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Easy To Store, I'd Buy It Again

Excellent Product But Could Be Better.
In the northeast we've had our share of snow this year and I don't believe we are done yet. Due to the elements, the GenTent is an excellent idea.

However picture this: You've lost power, it's dark, you have to wheel your generator out of the garage to set it up in the middle of a blizzard and now you have to take the handle off of the generator to install the GenTent. Sound like fun yet?

With a little imagination and design refinement, this excellent idea could be improved where the... more

Manufacturer Response
Brand Rep
Allan,
Thanks for this review and feedback. Yes we have wrestled with the Generac GP15000 and GP17500 fixed handles and how to best accommodate them. For the vast majority of thousands of generator make/models, the handles do not pose an issue because they fold out of the way. This particular Generac design is a bit tricky because the handles are right over the area most sensitive to water -- the electrical panel. So we don't want to risk leakage by poking holes for the handle in that area! Our current recommendation is to replace the 4 bolts with quick detach clevis pins. The GenTent can remain installed, simply release the elastic straps from the GenTent clamps to the left and right of the electrical panel and lift the canopy when the handles are attached. This said, I'm certainly open to ideas and feedback!mark.carpenter@gentent.com
