I have been pleased with my 8kw Generac for the short time I have had it. It was easy to install with a whole house transfer switch.
The noise level is acceptable and is not intrusive. The locking mechanism for the lid is a b..ch to get open especially in the cold weather.
I might have gotten the 10kw had I recognized the cylinder differences before I ordered, but no complaints so far.
The Home Protection freeze/flood device installed in a few minutes. The instructions are good; I did not install the water sensor.
The only complaint is that it will not call me when the generator takes over. The generator is powered up in less than 1 minute and the sensor will not call me unless the power is out for 5 or 30 minutes.
This does not let me know when the generator is in use. It would also be nice if it let me know when the regular power was restored.
Because of the whole house transfer switch I do not have an option to get this information, so the only time I will get a call is when the power is out and the generator fails....I guess that is O.K. but not perfect.
