I have a Yamaha EF2000is (which is great and also bought from Electric Generators Direct). I wanted a low-cost, quiet way to hook into home in the rare event of a power outage to manually switch between furnance blower and/or refrigerator, lights, outlets.
My panel was near my garage door so was installed with the plug so I could plug in 120V from the generator. I didn't see a good way to hook up the generator to the 120/v240V due to the 3-prong 240V connector.
I wound up having a local electrician install cheaply, but could have done so myself. He also believed very solid model and wiring and it was an easy and clear install. I picked 4 15-amp circuits to hook up.
Have used in testing - no problems to date. Nice firm switching between line/off/generator.
