Excellent Generator
After Katrina, I learned just what it's like to be without electricity for extended periods. Hot and miserable, and you lose everything you have in the fridge.
I bought my generator in 2006 so I would not be caught off guard again. I sized it according to how much fuel it uses and how many items that were essential to have powered on. After gradually replacing my light bulbs with CFLs and buying a 500 watt window AC...i had what i needed. This is a perfect generator if you calculate your energy consumption and basic needs after a bad storm.
In 2008, after Gustav his Louisiana, we were out of electricity for weeks...and my generator kept my family comfortable, house lighted and fridge running, AC running and we did quite nicely. It's requiring only 3 gallons per 11 hours is great too because I was able to keep things going for a week before i needed to resupply fuel...
I would recommend this generator to anyone!

This is a great little generator- it's ultra reliable, quiet, and starts on the first pull every time.
It's big enough to provide lots of power, yet small enough to be lugged by one person.

not so happy
I have had my proforce for about one year, it it ran great at first. the voltage was steady at 120 volts.
After about 25 hours of run time it started to lose amps and volts . today 12 months from the date I bought it, it will not generate the power needed to turn on a 20 watt light. I tried to find replacement parts but had no luck.
I guess I'll have to buy a real generator that will generate electricity for more than 30 hours run time , after all run time on one gallon of gas is 10 hours, so it didn't make it through the first full tank.
Thank you proforce
P.S. I did call the tech support and I was told this generator is intended for emergency use only and not to be used every two or three weeks

I think this is a sub-par reconditioning job since it arrived without a spark arrestor. This seller would not ship me a replacement part.
I looked at returning it but would have cost too much in shipping, so I decided to just buy the part myself although I am still trying to locate one. The unit is noisier than I expected. The company that originally made this generator is now out of business. I would not buy another one.
EGD RESPONDS: This unit does not come with a spark arrestor; that's why it cannot be shipped to California.
When I first got this generater I filled it with oil and put gas in it,The switch for the circuit breaker was broken off and the full on and off was leaking at the hose and where it goes into the tank.
It ran for about 5 min. and then started sputtering and would almost shut off then surge back up again this happened about 5 times until it finally died.
It would start up again if you choked it but it would also start the whole sputtering thing all over again. It has been in the shop now for the first 3 weeks of owning it when I should be using it for my camper.
In my opinion it has been a big hassle since the beggining.
If I would have known all of this I would have never bought it in the first place.
I can not give a decent review on this product or the company that sells it because the product, service,or quality of what they sale couldn't in all honesty pass as decent.
In my opinion they have very misleading advertising.

I've used several generators to power up our remote diesel fuel tank pumps for our truck fleet. The tanks are set 100 feet from the building and running a power line over to the tanks will take some time and cost some money.
Instead, we use this little genny. It runs about 1 hour a day, and starts everytime. Runs like a champ.
I wasn't expecting much when I bought it for $299. It has far exceeded my expectations.
we just lost are power for 4 days i live in the sw wa. we had a storm with 109mph wind a vary bad storm this gen ran the hole time saved my food gave us light heat tv and we even played the wii i dont care what these others say about this gen it is a great gen gave me no prb what so ever i ran one tank of gas a day less then a 1/2 load buy it its a great deal
The unit looked like new when I unpacked it. It even had some of the saran wrap like cover on the gas cap. It did not have a spark arrestor! I put in oil and gas and it fired right up with good voltage and moderately quiet - but noisier than expected. The next day I started it to let it run for awhile and it ran great FOR 5 MINUTES then it started to cut out every 10 seconds or so, almost stop, then come back to full speed. Checked fuel, fuel lines, carb, carb float. Determined it was not a fuel flow problem. Called Coleman support and they suggested it sounded like the low oil sensor cut off. When I disconnected the sensor (simply unplugged the green connector under the fuel tank) the unit ran great and is still running OK. Obviously, the reconditioning missed something. If you plan to buy one of these, read the other reviews and plan to spend some additional money to get it running. I'll replace the sensor sometime, and I will try to find a way to add a quieter muffler and spark arrestor. Not sure if I would buy something from this place again.

I received my reconditioned unit yesterday. I looked over it and only found a couple of things that I'll be contacting the manufacturer about.
I'm missing the spark arrester and the fuel line from the cutoff switch to the carbarator was missing a host clamp on the carberator side. Other than that I started it right up with no problems whatsoever. Without a load the voltage on my multimeter was around 123 volts and held steady with the choke adjusted properly.
After the engine ran for a while I put it under 50% load (with a load resister bank) and the voltage steadied at 120V.
I then put my camper on it and started up the AC. Initial surge did'nt even make the voltage blink and it held steady. Then I started turning on other appliances and the generator maintained the load very well.
All in all despite the missing parts I am pleased with this generator and I'm sure it will last for years. I'll add to this after I talk to the factory and get the replacement hose clamp and spark arrester.
Good deal for the money spent.

I have ordered 8 units of these, and out of 8, 1 was in a somewhat working condition, had to bring them all to the repair shop, 2 needed carburators, 2 fuel tanks badly damaged, 2 units the oil was leaking from engine seal, all of them the fuel valve and fuel gauge was leaking, 3 were missing spark arresters, none of them looked exactly the same!!!! BEWARE THESE ARE NOT RELIABLE -- 100% of them had problems, that needed a repair shop to fix them, just in order to start them!!!!! FRUSTRATION, WASTE OF TIME, MONEY, ETC...BUY NEW, and make yourself a favor by by buying another brand it is worth the extra money!!!!!!

unit was not in running condition upon opening box,was not packed with any packing
upon open found one borked wire to ground, lug was broken off at bolt/a loose wire hanging out of genertor, gas hose fron carb. to gas tank not connected.
after two hour of trying to repair broken wire and connecting gas line, was able to start generator but the gas hose is too short to connect correctly to fuel shut off valve
running engine will cause the hose to leak or slip off connection
What a great Generator! Had a Yamaha EF3000iSEB working alongside it this weekend, and it was only just a little bit louder. Not counting the Yamaha's electric start, if you add a line conditioner, and some sort of sound baffle, you'll match the Yamaha and save much $$$ with this one. Ran 24 hours on 6 gallons of gas with an average of 1800 watt load. Ran a 5000 BTU AC, small Refrigerator, a Ham Radio, DVD, Laptop, and lights all day & night with no problems. Well built, and reliable, I'll be using this one for years.
i have had this gen for about two months and it works great and was in like new con ..and i have used it a lot i maxs it out all the time and get about 4hours out of 3000watts so on 1500watts iget 10hours run time it only has a 90 day wart so that is the only down side but hell it runs like a champ so no worrys here and what a price!!!!! buy it you wont be sorry iam out by
i got mine two days ago and it run and works great i have max out the watts and it takes it no prob good deal great price cant say nothing bad so far it was used but in like new con so if you ask me good deal and i have all ready ran a full tank of gas thuogh it
Out of the box, extremely hard to get started. The solution was to squirt some WD40 into the cylinder and yank. After a few hours of running, engine valves are seated and will start on the first pull. Great value.
The Proforce Works Great, Once I Put the Correct Amount of Oil, Initially I Put Too Much Oil. Tested the Unit With My Frige and Several Other Appliances, Works Fine.
