I had this generator for only 2 years. It does not work in cold weather.
Last winter the darn thing had a lot of trouble starting and would not stay running. Coleman told me to put in expensive synthetic oil for this winter and so I did. Well, the first power outage the motor started, ran for about a minute and then blew up (a large crack in the block of the engine).
Now, I found out Coleman went bankrupt (no wonder since they make lousy products). In my search for a replacement engine, I also found out that the "Honda" engine used in the Coleman product is actually a Chinese knock-off Honda Engine.
From everything you can tell about look at the engine it looks like a Honda, but is actually not. This is found out from the mounting bracket of the block to the flywheel size and location. It is not a Honda. That is fraud, but they are broke, so what can I do?
Just warn people to go to a reputable generator manufacturer that has been in the business for more that 20 years. |
