Powermate PM0418000 - 8000 Watt Electric Start Generator

I got my generator a few weeks ago. It arrived exactly when EGD said it would and was not damaged in shipment. The unit has an electric start and until I tried it, I didn't realize what a great convenience it was. The Kohler engine is tricked out and provides plenty of HP. It is louder than I expected it would be - but I was used to using a unit with half of the HP and output.

The unit is heavy as hell, but that tells me that the cast iron crankcase, battery, starter and frame are heavy-duty and will last a long time. I haven't put any really heavy loads on the generator yet. This summer will tell the story when I load it up with a small room A/C and other appliances at my cabin. I'm very satisfied with the quality, performance and value I received.

Well, after three 'big ones' in the last year our old generator finally gave up the ghost. So we looked around and a friend recommended your website. A little shopping around confirmed this was the best deal. This generator had zero reviews when we ordered it but knew the combination of Coleman and Kohler was a great thing. It assembled intuitively with barely any reference to the instructions. I put the oil in, a few gallons of gas, and it fired right up. We burned it in for an hour, shut it down, and changed the oil & filter. Then we did a mock blackout and put a max load on the gen. It ran well, handled the load, and looks like a good fit. Honestly, I hope we never "need" to use it, but have a good feeling that if we do there will be no problems.
