I recently purchased a Powermate Model PM0106507 from PED. Everything works fine. I would now like a good cover it...can you recommend the best cover to fit this generator?
Thanks, Bob by Bob DeLillo from New Jersey on April 15, 2012
A: The Classic Accessories Large cover would be the correct cover. Click on link below for details or visit the generator product page where you will find the cover listed in the accessories page specific for this model.
Q: Can I use synthetic oil in the generator of equal viscosity to the required oil? by Bill from Connecticut on February 25, 2012
A: Some manufacturers recommend using 5W30 Synthetic oil for cold weather conditions.
However, Powermate does not recommend using a synthetic oil. Please refer to your owner's manual for proper oil types based on temperature ranges in your area.

Q: Hi Jim I bought a Powermate PM0105007 - 5000 watt gas power electric generator from home depot. The engine is a RATO made in china. Am I going to be ok with this? by John Miller from Washington on January 22, 2012
A: Yes, you should be find with this engine. Engines from China have been in the US for 8 - 9 years and have really had no major issues over the last 5 years and parts are typically accessible if needed.
The key is to do proper maintenance such as running the unit every week to every couple of weeks to keep the internals proper lubricated and prevent moisture build-up.
This also gives piece of mind knowing it is going to work when you need it.
Proper oil changes and using clean fresh fuel with a fuel stabilizer is extremely important.
Read the owner's manual from cover to cover as there is usually a ton of information that is extremely helpful.
Q: I want to connect the generator to the electrical box in my garage. What do I need to buy as extras to enable me to use the generator outside? How is the connection made from the electrical box to the generator? Power cord? or other means? by Gordon Heinrich from Florida on October 10, 2011
A: The following articles from my How-To-Library will help you with your generator questions.
After going without power for 8 days TWICE in 2 months this year I knew it was time. After some research on-line we ordered the Powermate 6500 watt generator from Gen Direct. The unit was back-ordered for about a month but we received the unit the day it was promised. It went together quickly and started first try. Did a temporary hook-up to check it out and everything ran like a charm. This unit is quieter than a Generac unit that I borrowed for a day during the last outage. I could not be happier with the service and product supplied.

Powermate 6500W Generator
Shipping was fast. Assembly was a breeze and the price couldn't be beat. I shopped online for weeks before I found this web sight. You guys by far have the best prices. I haven't had a chance to fire it up yet. The only negative thing I can say is the carton it came in had serious water damage on the bottom but the product was unharmed. I will definitely shop here again!

PowerMate Generator Is A Good Buy
OK.like everyone else here, I'd been looking for a generator for awhile..I checked other websites, makes, models, etc...I settled on Electric Generators Direct because I liked the layout of the different generators and the "how to" guides.
When I chose this PowerMate, I can't say enough about the ordering process or the professionals you deal with at R&L...easy, fast shipment, and a great trucker doing the delivery - right into the garage!!!
We haven't had any lose of power yet (it will come...) but the set-up was very simple and easy...worked right off the bat...
I have used the unit once...to run the leaf blower and I LOVE IT!!!!
Can't wait for the power to go out....

Fast delivery.....Great Unit
I bought the powermate 106507 and it was delivered fairly quickly. It was delivered to my door and the driver even put it in the garage for me. Minor assembly was required. I put oil and gas in it and it started right up. Placed a few loads on it ...still no problem. I have only had it about a month but it seems to be a great unit.

After borrowing a friends 5 Kw generator for a week following the autumn nor'easter, I started shopping for my own. I did some research, narrowed it down to the Generac GP, the B&S "Storm Responder" and this one. They are ALL imported. To get a US made or assembled product, you have to move up a model line. I picked the Powermate because it has a better surge rating than the Generac and a low oil shutdown that the B&S doesn't have.
The wheels, feet and handles went on easy, and it comes with tools. The battery's negative was not connected, I recommend to remove the hold down clamp and tip the battery out to hook up the neg cable. The wheels are wide with rounded edges, making it easy to move. The sturdy V frame makes it easier for two people to lift (but it's still heavy). The folding handles save storage space and are longer than most to give some leverage. The build quality seems good. The generator is larger than it appears to be in photos. It was delivered well packed and on time.
The assembly instructions are good, but the operation instructions are a bit vague. Pull the choke rod out to start, push it in to run. The only bad thing I discovered is the oil fill plug/dipstick. It is set back under the edge of the power panel, it's a little awkward. They supply a funnel with a hose, though. The dipstick is crosshatched, but has no "full" mark, and i found out why. I put in 37 oz of oil (you supply the oil), it filled the sump to the top of the fill hole.
It fired right up with the electric start and ran smoothly. It has a huge muffler (think 3 lb coffee can, squished to an oval) and was reasonably quiet at about 10' away. There is a "rushing" sound almost as loud as the motor, i haven't figured out if it is intake or cooling air flow... it's not a problem, though.
All in all, i am pleased with my purchase and recommend both this generator and electricgeneratorsdirect.com

Best For The Money!
Received my generator quickly. Took about 20 minutes to put together. (Tools were included). Fired up immediately. Ran for over an hour put load to it worked like a charm. This gen is well built sturdy not as loud as I thought it would be. I've been looking at all brands for almost 6 months now and for the price, quality, and wattage this is the best. Couldn't have asked for anything more. Now when the lights go off I just have to turn the key and plug it in. Couldn't be happier! Thank you Electric Generators Direct!!!

After Much Research
I received my generator much sooner than I had expected and was very pleased! I took my time and did the little assemble that was required like wheels, handles and oil ect. The thing started on the second crank of the engine. I am more than happy to recommend this product to everyone!
