Q: Hello I am looking for something to use while bowfishing i am trying to run 3- 500 watt halogen flood lights last weekend we tried to run 2 of the lights mentioned on a generac 2000 watt and it overloaded Just wondering if this genorator would get the job done by Greg Gothreaux from Louisiana on March 07, 2012
A: One of the biggest issues with generators and night fishing lights is they are halogen bulbs which require a high starting surge and you would require a large generator which would be too noisy when fishing late at night. I recommend that you stick with batteries.
From some research on bow fishing, many experts do not exceed 2 lights per battery which may be the best option for your application.
Also, it is not recommended to have a generator in a fishing boat.
Q: Jim, Can the 12v tap be used to charge a battery? I'm thinking of this for my car trailer to provide occasional 120v for small power tools, but it would be nice if it could charge the winch battery (not run the winch). I'll also be looking for a 6000-6500 for my big enclosed hauler to run a small compressor and shop tools inside. It will be mounted up in the goose-neck, so sound is a concern. Your suggestion? Larry by Larry Carter from Maine on February 05, 2012
A: Yes, the 12VDC outlet is designed to charge batteries. Please review the charging instructions on page 8 in the owner's manual.
Q: Looking for a generator to keep my sump pump functional during a power outage. I will only use it for the sump pump. What size would you recommend? by Bob Papas from Indiana on March 01, 2011
A: It really depends on the size and starting amperage of your sump pump. An average 1/3HP sump pump can require an "estimated" 1300 starting watts whereas a 1/2HP sump pump can require an "estimated" 2150 starting watts. Rule of thumb is the size the generator to 80% of the units running capacity so the unit has enough flexibility to handle a large load when it starts and allows the unit to provide proper voltage output without a major voltage drop. by Jim, Product Expert

Good Product
Wish it had a larger fuel tank, for a longer run time. It is a work horse for its size, no issues thus far good value for the price.

Not Happy & Not Impressed
After I received the generator, I put in the required oil, and the gas, read the operators manual, etc, and then tried to start the generator. I pulled the cord extremely hard, but but the flywheel would absolutely not turn. It would not crank. I unbolted the recoil start housing, and the lower bolt was pressed against the plastic so the flywheel would not turn. I took out the lower bolts of the main flywheel housing to add a washer on each side to give a little more clearance, but when I tightened those two bolts, they stripped out with very little pressure. I am not impressed with this poor workmanship from China. I still have not been able to get it started.

Little Generator That Could!!!
Several years ago Oklahoma had an ice storm that caused power outages for most of the city, generators were in high demand and short supply. Ever since then everyone has a “hair trigger” when the words “ice storm” are mentioned by the local weatherman.
My company purchased 25 of these units providing one for every employee at the plant. Jim at EGD really came though and was able to secure us a discount price since we were buying in bulk.
When the units arrived, we began an assembly line to setup, fill with oil, and test fire all units. All the units were well built and consistently started on the first or second pull of the cord. At one time there were 5 of the units running at the same time but we were still able to have a conversation due to the rather efficient muffler.
I would recommend these units to anyone looking for a small efficient generator whose only downside is the rather small gas tank. This shortcoming is irrelevant when it comes time you need a generator.
In short "These little guys run!!"
