Read Your Owner's Manual Before An Emergency
The local shop that services generators says that people experiencing starting issues often are not using fuel stabilizer or not changing their oil. The shop will pull the oil out and find that it has metallic build up common from any small gas engine that has been neglected.

I have no issues with this generator, it is a good quality product and a good value; but I strongly recommend that you follow the oil change intervals rather than just continuing to add oil. My only criticism is that... more

Mcculloch 5130 Watt Portable Generator Review
This is a dishonest web review site. I have twice posted that I and 5 other local residents here in Altus, OK received factory damaged 5700 Watt McCulloch generators and that the local Walmart will no longer sell McCulloch generators because of the quality issues- they called McCulloch generators "JUNK"...

EGD RESPONSE: We try not to publish information about other retailers. We recommend contacting Wal-Mart if you have an issue on how they sell their products. We currently do... more

Do Not Purchase
Piece of junk. It loses generating capacity after about 4 hours of use. Check out the website at McCulloch Power.com and see if you can get a service dealer. You won't and no one will answer the phone.

The one service dealer I did find (100 miles away) said he had a six week wait on them, and he had about 25 lined up in his shop for repairs.

Piece of Chinese junk.

Mcculloch 5130 Watt Portable Generator Review
I had thought about getting a generator for awhile. But when tornados knocked out power recently, I bought the 5700 watt and am very happy with this product.

I thought that I would be getting a cheap short use machine since this was an emergency. I was very suprised by the quality.

As the other review says......the gas cap sucks, but it's worth the minor inconvenience.

Good Generator
Very good generator. Basic issue is push rod wearing and breaking. Problem is most parts (push rods and guide plate) are discontinued and are very hard to find, if at all. Best have a good friend with spare parts.

Saved Me... Again
I bought this generator soon after Hurricane Katrina hit our area (Slidell, LA.) and used it for months to power my trailer while rebuilding my home.

It was put away in my shed (dry of fuel / ran engine until it quit / oil change) until recently when Tropical Storm Isaac (turned into a Category 1 Hurricane) hit.

I put gasoline in it, pulled the starter twice and the generator started! I ran it for 2 days with zero issues.

I did the same procedure again when storing it in the shed.more

Mcculloch Generator
Purchased for emergency back up power, and it has performed well running my whole house. As mentioned in other posts, the fuel cap leaks fuel whenever you move the generator, very poor designed fuel cap, no replacement has been found.

I also have a running issue. Starts alittle hard, and then the engine powers up and down to almost a stall and back up, and will do this for a minute or so, then level off and run long as you want. Doesn't matter what you do with the choke, it still revs and... more

Mcculloch Generator Fg5700ak
Purchased generator in 2005 have ran it about 200 hours and a push rod broke. Now I cannot find any parts to repair it; found out the engine is manufactured in Taiwan & it is a piece of junk.

A Great Buy!
After Hurricane Ike came through, I purchased this generator and ran it for nine days straight, with no problems at all.

I changed the oil three times by the time I had 100 hours on it and I ran a refrigerator, a window unit, several TV's, fans, the Playstation, and several lamps all at one time, and it never budged. Great Product!

Solid Performance For 15 Days Straight
We purchased our generator two days before Katrina hit in 2005. We then ran it for 15 days straight without it missing a beat. The only times we stopped it was to refill the tank and change the oil.

We put it away and didn't run it for close to three years. Last week after Ike hit we had to fire it up and it worked perfectly for two days until power was restored.

We would happily buy another if needed.

Mcculloch Generator
This year in the upper midwest we had a very bad tornadic wind and thunderstorm early on a Monday morning. We were without power for over 3 days, so I decided to finally purchase a generator.

My McCulloch 5700AK was the best investment I've made. It has started up each time, and I've used it from morning to sunset.
