Electric Generators Direct
|
We like the Honeywell 7500 watt portable generator for three reasons.
1. Electric Start
Generators are often hard to start with a recoil rope. This Honeywell generator comes conveniently equipped with an electric start button and a battery. Simply press the button, and it starts like a charm.
2. It's Affordable
This generator is a steal compared to other brands. Plus, Honeywell is a well known brand.
3. Gen-Cord is Included
We're selling similar cords for nearly $100. Honeywell actually includes it with the generator. |

| Disappointed in delivery |
| By Michael Albert (South Bend, IN) |
This generator seems to work just fine. I have not had a power outage since I got it but it was fairly easy to assemble and only took about 1 1/2 hrs from the time I opened the carton.
It started right up when I was finished assembling it and ran the electrical appliances and tools I plugged in just fine.
I was disappointed in freight company. They were supposed to deliver the generator to the house but I ended up getting my buddy with a pick-up truck to go pick it up at the terminal. I live in the country and they said I had to make arrangements to have someone who could meet the driver at the road when they unloaded it off the truck.
They could only send a semi with a lift gate so he couldn't back down the driveway. I asked if they had a box truck for local deliveries and they said no but I could pick it up. Since I was working and my wife couldn't handle getting the 200 lb box the 100 yards down the driveway, their only suggestion was to come pick it up.
They couldn't tell me when they would deliver it so that I could make arrangements to have someone there and could only give me a time frame the morning of the day it would be delivered. This was frustrating to say the least.
My experience from using the web site to talking to a customer representative to ordering was a great experience. I certainly expected delivery right to the garage like they had said but that's not what happened. I hope you use a different freight company in the future.
Another review I read before I bought the generator said they delivered his right to his garage door and all he had to do was open the box, assemble it and wheel it in his garage. I expected the same.
EGD RESPONDS: Shipping a large item by semi truck is much different than using UPS. UPS panel trucks can go almost anyplace a car can; a big semi needs much more room to get in, and get out of a delivery area.
Most of the time a semi can at least reach the end of your driveway. This unit is 200 pounds, so a hand truck or dolly that could handle a refrigerator should be able to get it down the driveway if the truck can't back down it.
As with most large deliveries, trucks are loaded in the order the merchandise will be delivered. The dispatcher can usually estimate a morning or afternoon for a delivery, but can't quote an exact time because it depends on how each individual delivery goes, how busy traffic is, how much is being delivered, etc. |

| Good Value For The Money |
| By Bruce Rambusek (Stockholm, NJ) |
I bought this generator because I had a water management system installed. The system comprises of several french drains tied into two sump pits with 34 Horse sump pumps.
Although not a constant problem under heavy downpour conditions the sump pits, which hold 25 gallons each, can fill about every 20 to 30 seconds. Several times this situation has continued for about 48 hours. The pumps go on and off.
I have burned out or had the thermal overloads on the pumps stop the pumps from operating on various occasions. As such I also have a brand new pump I can drop in to replace a malfunctioning pump.
Because I spent a great deal of money on finishing the basement and there is furniture down there I considered it a wise investment to invest in this generator. I chose this size because the constant surge in pump start up uses a great amount of energy.
The generator arrived several days after it was ordered. As promised a lift gate delivery was provided. It took me approx. an hour to assemble the unit. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! They are very easy to understand.
The unit kicked right over as soon as I hit the Start button. The electric start is a great feature. Honeywell is a name brand and the unit looks and runs well.
I haven't had to use the unit yet, and hope I never do. I do consider it sound judgment to have this unit as insurance. (Just a side note). One of my neighbors just this spring had his pump seize. He did not have a backup pump and ended up with over a foot of water in the basement.
The Fire Dept. came out and pumped his basement but the water ruined his hot water heater, furnace, washer & dryer. I would like to avoid a similar fate. |

| Great on the homesite... |
| By James Valentine (Mitchell, IN) |
I bought this generator for backup to the grid for my well pump, mainly. But it has also allowed me, since the well isn't in yet, to avoid meter fees while I am building my house.
It will also be the main power source away from the house around the farm. Setup was simple, oil filling wasn't that bad (just tip the generator a bit and the included funnel works fine), and it came with enough charge to start it up, which happened on the first crank that time and every time.
The included power cord is very heavy and the whole thing seems very water tight. All in all, though I don't like to part with the greenbacks, I feel like I got a decent value.
EGD shipping was good and uneventful! |

| Lightning Capital of The US |
| By Gary Cornish (The Villages, FL) |
I wanted a generator that would run my two refrigerators, TV's, lights and a room air conditioner. The load
would allow the generator to run all night on a single tank of gas.
I also wanted electric start so my wife can operate the generator should I not be here. I shopped several web sites and stores and this generator had everything I wanted and the price was the best I could find.
The shippers called me to arrange delivery in about four days.
It was easy to install the wheels and handles. I was also surprised that it came with a battery. Most
places I looked would not ship with a battery.
It also started in about 2 seconds. I am very pleased with this product and will put it to good use since we live in Florida and have frequent lighting storms and loss of power.
It is also a must for hurricane preparedness. |

| No more melted ice cream |
| By L. R. (Joppa, MD) |
We live in Harford County, Maryland in a zone noted for bad storms and power outages. Last year we got a Reliance TRC1005C 100A manual transfer panel after a storm to start our process for an emergency generator.
When the last storm came through in June 2010 our decision was made as we could wait no longer. After reading many reviews we settled on the HW7500E.
It is a dream to start with the electric starter. Less than three weeks after making the purchase another storm came through. With the generator and the transfer panel we had power to run the well, get hot water and have the kids occupied with a working television.
No more melted ice cream; and during these hot 90 degree plus days, the beer was cold!! |

| I cheated and read the directions |
| By FRANK PERKIN JR (Grosse Pointe Woods, MI) |
The gen set was delivered to my garage as agreed, and was reasonably easy to unpack and assemble- I cheated and read the directions twice before I did it.
It started quickly and seems to work well. I bought it for backup, and the power company has behaved itself since it arrived.
So far all is well. |

| Very good generator and supplier. |
| By David Connolly (Punta Gorda, FL) |
This generator is first class. Very sturdy and well built, which is not the case with some "equivalent" units advertised in other places.
It started on the second pull of the cord, even though it has electric start, which started immediately on the next try.
The ordering process was simple and delivery 1300 miles away was only a few days. The free lift gate delivery was to my garage and assembly took about half an hour.
I definitely recommend this generator and Electric Generators Direct.
One improvement that the manufacturer could make would be to be to supply a 30 amp connector cord for connecting to a breaker panel with a separate short 30 amp cord to multiple outlets that could connect to it (if desired) instead of the 25 foot outlet cord. |

| Service couldn't be any better |
| By Kenneth Fouse (Somerset, PA) |
My order was satisfied on third day after the order was placed. It was delivered , free freight and free lift gate service. Service to the order couldn't be any better.
I assembled the generator in about 1/2 hour. I'm partially handicapped so that adds to the assembly project. I added oil and gasoline and pressed the starter. It fired immediately.
I chose electric start because I'm not able to pull on the rope starter very long.
After assembly I plugged into the generator with an electric heater that draws 1600 watts. The generator showed no change to indicate someone had plugged in an electric heater.
I've had no power losses since buying the generator. I hope I never need to use it to support the house, but I'm sure it will handle it. |

| Great deal and great service |
| By Steve Dixon (Hopewell Junction, NY) |
I recently purchased and received the HW7500E generator from Electric Generators Direct.com. Great customer service and delivery was exceptionally fast and convenient.
I then purchased the power cord that is required for the home hook-up and again, no problems with the customer service and delivery. I would highly recommend this store to anyone in the market for the equipment they sell.
As for the generator itself, assembly was a breeze and after fueling it up with gas and oil and securing the battery - it fired up on the first shot. I hope I don't need to use it that frequently, but do plan to utilize it for other purposes around the house besides complete power loss.
In case you're wondering, yes - my home was one of the homes in the New York area that lost power for over 5 days in early March 2010 after the powerful Nor'easter tore down trees and power lines in my neighborhood that resulted in a direct comparison with Beirut.
It was absolutely brutal. In any event I have a wife and 3 boys under 10 years old and we ran out of things to do in a hurry. With no electricity or water (well pump) we had to pack up and head to the in-laws. Not so bad, but had wished I had a generator.
I do now!
Thanks for the great deal and great service. And oh yeah, don't forget to start up the generator at least once a month and use fuel stabilizer! |

| Frozen assets |
| By Robert Long (Arlington, TX) |
We had a bad snow storm come through Texas a few weeks ago and our power was out for five days. We lost the food in our fridge and freezer and froze our assets off. It was 38 degrees inside our house.
Our power had gone out in the past due to thunderstorms, which plague Texas every year; and it was days even then before power was restored. I had talked about getting a portable generator for years and we never did.
After this storm we had had enough.
I looked online and found Electric Generators Direct. I knew already something about what I wanted and EGD made it easy. Low prices, no tax and quick delivery.
I have already recommended EGD to several friends. Setup was easy and fast, and the generator started easily. The Honeywell HW7500E comes with electric start and a battery. The power cord plugs right in and its ready to go!
The next thing from EGD will be a circuit box and main disconnect for the generator.
A word to the wise: Spend the money on a circuit box and disconnect for your portable generator. It's safer for you and you won't endanger the linemen with backfeed.
If you don't get a box, then just use extension cords. Don't try to dangle wires from your main circuit box to your portable generator. It's dangerous and can cause electrocution.
Extension cords work fine and you don't have to worry about hooking up a circuit box. I'll be using cords until I can get a box, and I'll be looking for a good electrician to install it.
P.S. This portable generator is not as loud as my lawnmower. |

| A Great Generator |

This is a great generator. It started as soon as I pushed the button.
It is a little hard to put oil in. Easy to assemble the wheels and handles, though. |

| Great Product |
| By Franco Antonetti (Horseshoe Bend, AR) |
I had a horrible experience last Winter when an ice storm had us without power for 9 days. Since then I have been comparing and checking out many Generators.
Having found this one, and comparing features, I decided to buy it:
It came on time.
It was what it was advertised.
It was simple to put the few additional pieces on (the legs, axle and tires. Also adding oil and finalizing installation of the battery, and fuel of course.)
One attempt and it started right up.
Not as loud as many others, and hopefully, I never have to use it for an emergency event.
Great product. |

| Never Thought I Would Use it |
| By Rene Charpentier (Deerfield, NH) |
I purchased the Honeywell HW7500E in December 2009 after losing our power for 2 days in November after an Ice storm.
My wife and I went back and forth and I finally gave in. In February 2010 we got a classic Northeaster with 100 MPH winds and pretty much the entire state is without power.
The generator started right up and has been running for 6 days straight now. When not using the well pump it has more then enough power to supply the entire house.
It is very quiet in comparison to the neighbors. Hopefully it will continue running strong.
EGD RESPONDS: Please don't forget to change the oil at the intervals listed in your Owner's Manual!
For this model, Honeywell recommends an oil change after the first 20 hours of use; and then every 100 hours after that. |

| No Problem |
| By Al McGee (West Plains, MO) |
Ordered My 7500E 2 days ago, received it today. It was ready to go in around 30 minutes.
I had no trouble with the funnel when filling oil. I fueled it and it started within 3 seconds.
I ran it for about 30 minutes powering 2 freezers with no problems. |

| How to Start A Portable Generator |
| By Jim Baugher, Product Expert (Bolingbrook, IL) |
The best way to ensure your generator lasts is to start it properly the first time.
Most of us are too proud to read owners manuals.
If you watch this video instead, you'll take better care of your generator, and it will last you much longer.
Enjoy. |

| Very Nice Unit |
| By Fred Ruiz (Valparaiso, IN) |
The unit is easy to assemble (takes about an hour) and mine started right up. Its fairly quiet, although I wouldn't say very quiet.
Instructions are easy to understand and its fairly compact.
This 7500 watt unit was in the sweet spot for me and considering the wattage and cc of the motor I think this is a great value.
Complaints are that the battery was a little difficult to get to for installation and my biggest complaint is that the oil fill hole is just really awkward and messy.
Oh, and Electric Generators Direct is great. They were very friendly and accomodating and shipping was super fast. Great price and 6 months same as cash can't be beat. |
