I am torn between a 5500 and 7500 Honeywell. I live in Massachusetts, 1800 sq foot house. The generator would be for emergencies, I plan on installing a transfer panel and power 5 lights, my fridge, stove, oven, water heater, and steam heat.
They would not all be running at once, can I get by with the 5500???

A: It is best to up-size a generator to prevent issues with voltage. Proper sizing of the generator is based on 80% of the generators running capacity, so when a large load kicks in the unit has enough flexibility to handle it and still provide clean voltage output.
Self-excited generators respond to severe overloading differently than the power line. When overloaded, the engine is not able to supply enough power to bring the electric motor up to operating speed. The generator responds with high initial starting current, but the engine speed drops sharply. The overload may stall the engine. If allowed to operate at very low speeds, the electric motor starting winding will burn out in a short time. The generator winding might also be damaged. by Jim, Product Expert

A: Hello, Thank you for emailing Electric Generators Direct. This model does not come with a battery. Only Electric Start models come with batteries.
Our house was flooded this past summer and we needed to get power some how to pump the water out of our basement. This generator ran 24 hours a day for two weeks and we DID NOT have one problem! The price was right and fast shipping. Just what we needed!

Neighbor Is Happy Too!
Received this unit in just a few days after placing my order. Truck driver wheeled it on a pallet to my garage and even helped to push it off the pallet into my garage.
When we went on vacation our hometown was hit by severe storms, over 800,000 homes were without power. My son stopped by to check on our house. It was fine but had large branches down and no power. My son set up the generator and said it started first time.
It powered our refridgerator, a freeezer and our neighbors refridgerator, a fan, some lights and TV. Our son and our neighbor even used it to power electric chain saws to take care of the branches and a downed tree in our neighbor's yard. Our area was wihout utility power for a full week. This unit ran most of that time. The oil only needed to be topped off once.
I know my son and I are very pleased with this unit and would recommend it and Generators Direct to anyone.

Furnace Motherboard Electronic Controls
The new furnace we had installed was with all electronic controls with a caution, that any generator used with the equipment that did not meet surge protection requirements and specifications, would void the warranty on the $7000 furnace.
My 20+ year old generator did not meet the requirements, so internet shopping I went. Your prices and service sold me and I ordered the qualified Honeywell at quite a savings. It now is in place as our new cross over standby and works perfectly giving me peace of mind that we will have electric service for my wife's oxgen, furnace, water and lights, when the power regularly goes off here in the woods.
Delivery was just on time and done very well with the lift. Yes I will recommend your company to others.

New Trailer
We just bought a new horse trailer with living quarters, so had to have a generator to go with it!
We have not gotten to use it on a trip yet! But we have used it at the house, it has done everything we have asked.
My wife can even start it with no problems!
