Q: does this Honeywell Model 6037 have OSHA required GFCI outlets? by Bob Kennedy from Connecticut on March 04, 2012
A: Since this generator is classified as an emergency residential portable generator it is not required to have GFI outlets, only professional and industrial model generators have GFI outlets.
This model does not have any GFI outlets which are shown under the specs link on the product page.
If you need a generator with GFI outlets please check out the professional and industrial line of portable generators we offer.
Q: What do you think is the best electric start 5 KW portable gas powered generator by Gino from New Jersey on October 01, 2011
A: Here is a list of the options we offer for portable 5000 watt electric start generators. You can see that most people buy the Honeywell 5500 watt (item number 6037).
Power was out for 4 days and I bought the first generator I could so I did no investigation before buying it. I have to say however that it came with oil (which is great since I had no time to go shopping for it) and started right up after I filled it with gas.
I had no time to connect the handles, wheels or electric start battery so the fact that it started on the second pull was a relief. The generator ran steady and consistent the entire time I had it on. It powered everything in my home (except I had the range and electric dryer turned off). This includes an oil boiler, water pump, 2 refrigerators, tv, internet, phone and lights. The only time we went out of our way to shut things off (t.v., extra lights etc) was when someone took a shower to make sure the water pump had the power it needed.
Once power was restored I added the handles, wheels and electric start battery. The battery came fully charged and worked right away.
My only complaint is that one of the battery connections was missing the bolt and nut to connect to the battery terminal.

Excellent Generator
Received generator today and packaging was excellent. This generator came with a quart of oil and even had a charged battery. After puttiing the wheels and handles on, i filled it with oil and gas and it started right up.
This generator is not very loud for the size of this motor that is around 13 HP. I would buy this generator again and i believe they are made by Generac. Excellent Company

Not Very Good
EGD Responds: Due to the current manufacturing landscape in the USA, almost all portable generators, regardless of the manufacturer, are produced, assembled or have components from China. Honeywell stands behind their generators and provides a 3 Year Limited Residential Warranty.
I was extremely disappointed in the Honeywell generator I just bought from Generators direct. To start off with, it was made in China. I have absolutely no faith in Chinese quality control from personal experience. It looks cheaply made , the welds on the frame are bad and the tires might as well have made out of cardboard. Generator Direct asked for an honest opinion so here it is: BUY SOMETHING ELSE NOT MADE IN CHINA!

Receiving and Unpacking Generator
Free shipping is great but when I was not home for the delivery I had to call the number of the trucking company to set up a time I would be home.
Anyway after unpacking everything look great it started right up but was spilling gas out of the carburetor. I called the 800 number for help and all I got was do you have a paper and pencil handy I said yes. Then she gave me two numbers of stores that repair for them. I thought I was going to get some help right off saying maybe the gas needle is stuck and this is what you do. But no, so I called the number that was the closest 20 miles away they said to bring it up. I don't have a way to get it there and its too heavy for one person to lift.
I asked them if I could fix it myself could he give me any ideas which he said the needle valve is probably stuck you need to take the bottom of the carb off. But don't break it, its $90.00. I took the carb off but could not get it apart so I put it back together and tried it again. this time it did not leak and has run and started several times okay.
