Honda EU6500isA - 5500 Watt Electric Start Portable Inverter Generator

Originally ordered Honda EM6500. Due to production issues in Japan, back order date was pushed back several times. What I appreciated was that EGD kept me continually updated on the status of the delay and in each case, offered me the option to cancel the order. Everyone I spoke with was courteous and informative and emails were responded to promptly. When I finally changed my order to the EU6500, the product arrived within a week of my order in perfect condition. Other online stores offered slightly better pricing, but were not as forthcoming about product availability. EGD's prices are certainly competitive and their honest approach to dealing with customers makes me very comfortable buying from then again.

Contacted R&L for the delivery time which was indicated to be early to mid afternoon. Once 3:00PM came and left I called again and was told 4-5:00 PM. Truck showed up at 4:00PM but did not have the Generator on it. Talked with the shipping manager and he said he was going to check on it and get back in touch. After leaving the house and not hearing from the manager I called him and he said it was actually on the truck, which it wasn't and would be there shortly. It must have been put on a different truck. Being 30 minutes away from the house it was left by the door. Don't recommend this shipping company.

The generator package was delivered on a skid and looked okay. After unpacking, assembly of the wheels and handle, adding oil and gas then connecting the battery it started up on the first try. Very quite machine and easy to move. Looking forward to the next power outage.

We've lived in Chatham, NJ for 13 years. We lose power far too often. We've been without electricity two times this year alone, three days in February and four days due to Irene. Enough is enough.

We plan to go for a whole house back-up system in the future, but we got the Honda EU6500ISAC for the immediate future. Ordering through Generators Direct was easy and delivery was extremely fast and professional. From online ordering to delivery took less than three days. The truck driver (UPS heavy) helped me get it up my steep driveway. This is a very heavy and bulky item in the box (close to 300lbs). It is simple to put together, but requires some strength in order to get the wheels and feet assembled to the chassis. Once assembled, it is fairly easy to move around. The power came back on the day it was delivered, so we really haven't had a chance to use it. An expensive purchase, but hundreds cheaper than the local Honda distributor. The assumption at this point is that since this is the top of the line Honda unit, it'll end up having been worth it.
