Q: Hi Jim, I'm considering a Honda handi 3000 for my home as a standby with a 10 circuit txransfer switch. How do you like the Handi for this type of use? I like the idea of how mobile it is? Your thoughts pros and cons?

A: These units are more designed for recreational use with RVs or camping but can be used to power small loads in your home. You would need a specific 120V manual transfer switch and recommend the following model as it offers the most versatility.

This generator transfer switch is ideal for powering essential appliances with a portable generator during a power outage. It accommodates 6 to 16 household circuits, and can be used with any portable generator up to 3750 watts @ 120 volts continuous, or 4500 watts @120 volts surge.
