A: 1. Connect the parallel operation cable between the EU2000i Companion to either an EU2000i or another EU2000i Companion generator following the instructions supplied with the cable kit.
2. Start the engines and make sure the output indicator (green) on each generator comes on.
3. Plug an appliance into the 30A twist lock receptacle.
4. Turn on the appliance.
**If the generators are overloaded, or if there is a short circuit in a connected appliance, the overload indicator (red) will go ON. The overload indicator (red) will stay ON, and after about four seconds, current to the connected appliance(s) will shut off, and the output indicator (green) will go OFF. Stop both engines and investigate the problem.
Determine if the cause is a short circuit in a connected appliance or an overload. Correct the problem and restart the generator.
Follow the instructions included with the parallel operation cable kit. Before connecting an appliance or power cord to the generator:
Make sure that it is in good working order. A faulty appliance or power cord can create a potential for electrical shock.
If an appliance begins to operate abnormally, becomes sluggish, or stops suddenly, turn it off immediately. Disconnect the appliance, and determine whether the problem is the appliance or the rated load capacity of the generator has been exceeded.
Make sure that the combined electrical rating of the tools or appliances do not exceed that of the generator. Never exceed the maximum power rating of the generator. Power levels between rated and maximum may be used for no more than 30 minutes.
Never connect different generator models.
For parallel operation, use only a Honda approved parallel operation cable kit (optional equipment) when connecting one EU2000i Companion to either an EU2000i or another EU2000i Companion generator.

A: Unfortunately you cannot parallel two different size Honda inverter generators. Their internal computer system will not recognize the other so they will not sync together.

A: The EU2000i can power a small sump pump. That's about it.
If you plan on using it for camping, it's a great model.
If you will only use it for home backup, save some money and buy an "emergency" portable generator instead.

The cover fits the generator well...almost too well. It's a bit of a struggle to get the cover over the top of the generator. But once in place, it does the job. The opening flap at the top to access the handle is a good thing.

Good Generator - Good Cables - all is well. If it sits for more than 6 months it doesn't like to start with older gas but other than that it is great.
It typically starts in 3 pulls unless its below 10 degrees.
EGD RESPONDS: If the generator is going to sit with gasoline in it you will want to use a fuel stabilizer in the gasoline. It's better to drain it completely before you store it.

Excellent Combo
Just wired this switch in today and did a test run--outstanding! Paired with the Honda EU200i generator its great. I have a condo & this system runs my gas furnace, living rm lights, tv, etc., bedrm lights & tv, and my refrigerator with ease. The Honda is so quiet, you don't even hear it outside. Take that CL&P!!

Would Not Crank
EGD Responds: This product is covered by a 3-year warranty from Honda. Please contact Honda directly @ (770) 497-6400 if you're having trouble locating an authorized dealer for warranty repairs.
Purchased new Eu2000i, Used it for two hrs, shut it off and it would not crank again, lost all compression. Now I am struggling with a authorized dealer to have it repaired through the mfg, warranty. I am getting the impression that authorized dealers resent repairing units purchased on line!!! It remains to be seen if I will get satisfaction on this purchase, so far it has been questionable.

My son and I bought this generator for our hunting camp.We use it for lights,fan,tv,microwave,and ac. When we use the microwave we cut off the ac. The unit will run all night not using the ac on less than a gallon of gas,and you can hardly hear it run.

So Quiet I Thought It Had Died!
I took the generator out of the shipping box, gave the owners manual a quick read and topped it up with oil and gas. Applied full choke and the engine started on the fifth pull. I gave it about three minutes run time and switched it into "eco" mode and plugged in my camper with the refrigerator and all lights turned on. Then I decided to walk out to the mailbox and check my mail.
The driveway is about 120 ft. long and I was only halfway to the mailbox when I realized I couldn't hear the generator running any more. I thought, "Darn, it must have quit," so I turned around and headed back. Just a few feet back, I could hear it faintly purring away. I headed back to the mailbox and the sound disappeared again in the same spot. This machine is quiet! I let it run for the next four hours sitting less than ten feet from my house and could not hear it at all from inside. I'm ready to take the camper boondocking now with no worries about disturbing the neighboring campsites.

Great Generator
I should of done this the first time, a few years back we went seasonal camping at a campground that had no hookups. I bought a Honeywell generator because of the price. Worst investment I ever made, This thing just doesn't want to start or is very temperamental. Last season the recoil rope broke because it took so many pulls to get this generator going.
Well this time I wasn't going to make the same mistake, I bought the best, the HONDA EU200I, it starts on the first pull every time and it's QUIET. It's worth the price!!

Honda Generator
I purchased the EU2000i for over $900 quite expensive for only 1.6KVA output but it's advanced circuitry and compact size seemed attractive. I've only started it twice, the first time required multiple pulls but once started it ran fine. For "emergency" use, it is only run for maintenance purposes. My hope is the Honda will provide years of service with minimum maintenance, but that will take time to evaluate.

Seems To Be A Good Bye
I have not had a chance to use it much yet. Here in TX we went months with no rain but the day this showed up the rain started. I live on a ranch and so often need to use my power tools in remote areas so this will be a big help. I also own a jeep and love camping and getting off the beaten trail. Again this will come in handy. I like how quiet it is and how easy it starts. Sure I could have gotten a cheaper gen. That would have done the job but I feel you get what you pay for. I paid more but I got the best!!

I am NOT an electrician, but was able to easily and safely connect this 4 circuit transfer switch. Male "input" on transfer box required 5 minutes to install (not sure why it isn't done at the factory, but then again, I don't own a factory). Tested and working just fine for my furnace, refrigerator, garage door opener, and one room. Can use with standard extension cord, no need to put external box on the house or use a giant (and expensive) 30A extension cord.

Happy Again!
Sold my old Honda 4500 before Irene...... poor timing. Suffered through 5 days before I got an EU2000 to try for one day. What a Jewel!! My old Honda still ran great but was too heavy for me to handle this was great!
Found out about EGD from my daughter, read reviews, ordered, and everything was exactly as described! Out of the box, oil and one pull later we were on line! A fine company to work with! We recently purchased an EU2000i and an EU2000 companion after hurricane Irene. The EU 2000 companion easily powered several lights, the TV, cable box, dvd player, coffee maker and even the blow dryer so my wife could fix her hair. We even ran the 12 hp well pump to draw water and the EU2000 companion had no problems at all.
We bought the EU2000i to allow us to parallel them together to power most of the house if the power is ever out for an extended time in the future. It is amazing just how quiet the generator really is, especially when compared to the monsters that were running all around us, you could hardly hear it at all.
Great purchase, I would recommend them to anyone looking to have a backup for the house or for powering the camper, another task that the EU2000 companion had absolutely no problem with.

Can't Go Wrong With Any Honda
I placed my order on Wednesday and my generator arrived in NC on Friday! Exceptional service. The outer shipping carton was punctured but no interior damage. It is difficult to put oil into the EU2000I without a funnel with a FLEXIBLE spout because the filldrain hole is so far inside the frame of the generator - a very poor design and most un-Honda-like.
It is also tricky to get enough oil in without overfilling it: I first overfilled, then poured out what little I thought was the excess only to have the low-oil feature shut the engine down. I then added back only 3 or 4 tablespoons and it ran fine, so the low-oil sensor is VER¥ sensitive. (It was nice to learn so early that the low-oil shutdown feature works!). I also miss not having a specific mark on the crosshatched oil dipstick to indicate the proper level.
Otherwise, the generator is a gem: easy to start and very quiet in eco-mode and not much louder under load. I like the design that keeps the screw that holds the access cover on from coming out of the panel when the panel is removed , thus preventing losing the screw. I paid the extra cost for a Honda based on my prior experience with 4 Honda motorcycles, 5 cars, and my sister's 2 lawn mowers! I'm quite satisfied with Honda and Electric Generators Direct.

Thought I was going to be able to get this unit locally before the storm, but could not. Ordered from EGD (great price) on Thursday and got it Monday morning. Storm hit Saturday night into Sunday. Fortunately my neighbor had a generator and was able to keep the sump pump and refrigerator going until I got the EU2000i.
The whole street was without power so when the Fed Ex truck pulled up with the generator, my neighbors weren't far behind. We ran two extension chords and were able to split off of them and kept 3 neighbors refrigerators and two sump pumps going until the power came back on Thursday.
This unit is really sweet and only burned 1.1 gallons about every 8-9 hours. Very efficient, very quiet and very thankful! Use a small funnel to fill with oil-don't tilt the unit to try and o this and don't over fill- took a little more than 12 quart. Pull the chord nice and easy so the compression builds. This unit started on the 1st pull and I ran it for 4 days straight.
I would recommend this unit in heart beat! Considering buying the companion for the winter so i can run just about my whole house if needed.

Great Experience
My experience was great! Ordered it on a Tuesday, received it on a Friday, was using it the next day, Saturday. Using it to power a TV for football tailgating. Everyone at the tailgate commented on how quite it runs. I know it would be a bit louder if we were pulling more power but for our needs we can put on the "eco" switch and let it go. We turn it on around 9am and off around 6pm or so. Still has plenty of gas, so I imagine would run all night if we needed it to.
When not using for tailgating, I plan to use, if needed, for power outages at home when they pop up. The price was better than anywhere in town and I didn't have to pay shipping/taxes.

Thank God For This Generator
Just before Hurricane Irene hit the East Coast, I ordered and received this generator shipped to me overnight fedex. While the extra 200 dollars for rush shipping felt kind of expensive at the time, I have never been so glad to have spent money as I was when the power went out at 11:30 Saturday night and did not return again until 11:30 Sunday night.
The Honda EU200i was small, easy to run, easy to add fuel to, and powered our sump pump and our refrigerator for the 24 hours we did not have power. Had we not purchased the generator, I would be currently under piles of insurance claims and yelling at adjusters all over NJ.
It is small and fairly light, easy to use, and I love it. It's a peace of mind now to know that should anything go wrong, I can count on my generator in an emergency and it will do what I need..
I love this machine so much I plan to name it. How's that?

Sump Pump Power
I purchased the Honda EU2000i due to local power failures as a result of heavy rains. My basement sump pump requires AC to operate and when power is lost, no pumping occurs. The Honda generator now powers my pump in case of local loss of electricity.

I called EGD on the Friday before Hurricane Irene hit New Jersey. While I'm sorry I waited until the last minute, the people at EGD were friendly and professional. They explained all of my options and promised to have the generator in my hands on Saturday.
At noon on Saturday, the FedEx truck pulled up and there it was. I lost my power Saturday night and didn't get it back until Wednesday. The Honda EU2000i ran continuously during this period (except to refill the gas) without any problems. A couple of my neighbors had generators running during this time and the noise was quite loud.
The Honda ran smooth and quiet. The Eco-Boost automatically compensated when my refrigerator compressor cycled on by increasing the RPM's for a minute or so before returning to a very quiet operating mode.
I am very impressed with the Honda generator and equally impressed with the service provided by EGD.

I ordered this generator the Thursday prior to Hurricane Irene. It arrived the following day, as promised. When I was ordering it, I asked if it would keep a refrigerator running. I was told it would and that I would have to fill it approximately every 3 hours.
This little generator proved to be an amazing machine. It kept 2 refrigerators running along with some lights and light appliances. To our surprise, it ran for 7-9 hours, not 3 hours. This was a great help. I would recommend this portable generator to anyone.

Researched this generator, even downloaded service manual from Honda before buying. Placed my order, service excellent, delivery right on time and package looked like it just came off the shelf.
I'm a professional certified technician so I read the all the information included, followed all the instructions, used best oil, filled with non-ethanol gas, checked all the control functions, set the choke and after a couple of pulls started right up, quiet as can be. Let the generator run a awhile to circulate the oil, breakin all the necessary parts, put in eco mode for awhile and then shutdown to cool to ambient temperature. Then restart and load it down for awhile and repeat procedure and your generator should last you a lifetime.
Don't forget to change the oil at 20 hours, there is a little bit of debris on the first change. After the next change at 50 total hours I switched to the best synthetic for easier winter starts and add Stabil as directed. Can't recommend EGD and Honda enough and plan to supplement this one with another soon, like they say, you get what you pay for.
Researched this generator, even downloaded service manual from Honda before buying. Placed my order, service excellent, delivery right on time and package looked like it just came off the shelf.
I'm a professional certified technician so I read the all the information included, followed all the instructions, used best oil, filled with non-ethanol gas, checked all the control functions, set the choke and after a couple of pulls started right up, quiet as can be. Hurricane Irene
I purchased the smaller Honda EU2000I a day before we were supposed to get hit by hurricane Irene. Because it was cheaper here than anywhere else by at least $50, I also opted for the next day shipping so I could have it before we lost power.
The FedEx truck showed up on schedule, and just 3 hours before we lost power. The 1600 rated watts was enough to run my kitchen fridge/freezer, my basement freezer, a couple lights, and my TV for the 3 days (just over 73hrs) until the power came back on.
The generator actually ran as long as it states, and on a full tank of just over a gallon of fuel, we routinely got 8 hrs of run time. I was typically turning it off every couple of hours, and toting it to a friends house to run his sump pumps for 20-30 minutes at a time, then bring in back to my house and plugging back in.
On top of everything else, because it's so small, I can use it for camping and tailgates instead of just household emergencies that we don't get very often, so the higher price is more easily justified.

After due diligence and review of all similar inverters, decided on the Honda due to it's features (size, weight & noise level), reputation and resale value. It is more expensive than most by almost double, but I want no problems. Also my son has one & at some point he'll have a matching pair. I ordered by phone at 11AM on a Thursday & was advised would ship the next day or latest, Monday. I received it on my doorstep (MI) the very next day, Fri at 3:30P via Fed Ex (std free shipping). The box looked just like I picked it up at a local dealer myself, maybe even better, and $100 less than anywhere else. Highly recommend these folks!

This is my second Honda EU2000 and they are great. I use it on my boat in a Florida salt water environment to power air conditioning for sleeping comfort with a 8200 BTU Rooftop RV unit and to run appliances like a microwave, blender, coffeemaker, deep fryer and rotisserie oven one at a time or to just recharge my 12V house batteries.
My first generator after 5 years of service and a guestimation of 300+ hours still ran perfect, I just sold it to get another brand new one with zero hours for my boat while I can afford to. They are easy to transport at 50lbs, easy to start, easy to store and perform extremely well, smooth and quiet. Oil changes are a snap and at .4 us qt, high quality synthetic oil is cost effective.
On a full tank of 1 gallon of gas, it would typically run my ac overnite for about 7-9 hours before running out. Word of Advice - start and run the generator at least once every 3 to 5 weeks for a few minutes to avoid any carburetor issues with blockages which cause poor idling.

Great Little Generator
Bought this generator after I lost power for the 4th time this Spring. I wanted one small enough that I could carry and that would power my CPAP, fan and maybe my refrigerator. I purchased this after reading a lot of reviews. I got a good price from Electric Generators Direct and it arrived in a couple days. The instructions were simple, just added, oil, gas and it cranked right up. Got to use it a couple of days ago and it worked great.

The first night that I used them, I ran one generator powering my ac and and used a gallon of gas in a little over seven hours. I use them as primary power for our travel trailer at our camp in East TX. Usually run one generator for the air conditioner (with eco turned "on"), but when extra power for cooking is needed, I run both generators.
Very quiet, very fuel efficient. I went through three 5500 watt generators in the past three years. Hoping these will last as long as everyone says, if so, they will be well worth the extra initial expense.

This generator is so easy to start. 1) Vent the gas cap, 2) turn on the choke, 4) turn switch to on and pull the starter. Pulling the starter does not require much effort to get it going. Women appreciate the ease of starting. I use it for my horse trailer and it supplies all the electricity I need to run my microwave and fan when rustic camping.

I purchased my EU2000 to run fans, electric knives, lights, and other small appliances at competitive barbeque cookoffs. Also, I wanted a generator for around the house for the occasional (and usually) short power outages. The EU2000 fits the bill.
I have used it 3 times and it has clearly met my needs. The portability and the quiet are both big pluses. If there is a downside to this generator, it is the oil filler. Upon receiving it, I tilted the generator slightly to fill it with oil which resulted in an overfill. The overfill flowed down into the plate on the bottom of the generator causing me to have to remove it and clean things up before I ever cranked the generator.
They say you can't fix stupid, but I did by buying a funnel (not the Honda variety) with a flexible neck. I'm looking forward to continued use of the generator in the weeks ahead.

Can't Beat Honda Motors...
I've owned a whole bunch of things that run on gas, but nobody makes motors like Honda, and this little generator is yet another piece of engineering and manufacturing excellence.
It's so quiet I forget it's running, and the cord - think I selected the right one, the one that is recommended on the site - is a good fit for this little baby. I also recommend you buy the marine (waterproof) cover.
The delivery was quick and the price was right. I'd definitely buy from these folks again, and everyone envies my Honda generator who doesn't already have one. I will in the future get another so if needed I can hook them together.
