Q: how many individual wires are there in the 30ft. lead on the transfer switch and what are the wire gauges for each?

A: 9 total wires....

5 Control wires - 14 Gauge

2 - 120V & 1 Neutral - 6 Gauge

1 Ground Wire - 8 Gauge

You can only extend the length an additional 15 ft per Generac and if you need to go farther the entire length needs to be changes since it will no longer be the correct gauge based on the distance beyond 50 total ft.

 Generac Load Center

I have installed 2 of these units in the past year for customers. They are excellent products. The directions are very clear, making installation simple. I would recommend Generac products to anyone interested. My only regret is that one time I ordered the generator that did not include the transfer switch. This caused me to have to order the switch separately which raised the price by $250 for materials and shipping. The complete package of generator and switch is the best buy. My customers are very pleased with their back up systems.
