Where I live, we always lose power. It seems anymore when the sun isn't right, the power goes out.
Well, I work second shift 3-11, so when my wife is home and the power goes out, she has not only no power but no water either because we have a well.
Now, when the power goes out, its about 12-15 seconds, and you don't even know your on generator power it's quiet. Also, you think there's a lawn mower running. I can live with that. I love it.
I have a neighbor that has a portable generator. He has to dig out of his shed and hook up externally and fill with gas. Also, pull start. Man, is it loud.
It was nice when we had a bad sleet storm. My wife called me and said, "We were the only house with power, and my neighbor was struggling to get his power back."
Would recommend this setup to anyone. My whole house never misses a beat now.
I like knowing that my wife - unlike my neighbor - doesn't have to keep checking the fuel and pull start the thing when she needs power all she does is count to 15 and back on.

| Maintenance Kit Suggestions |

I purchased my generator after the ice storm of '08 in NH. I have used it a few times since then.
I recently purchased a couple of maintenance kits as I have had trouble finding the correct oil filters at outdoor power equipment stores in my area.
It would be nice if your kit contained the oil as well. Another plus would be if you sold the oil filters separately. It seems you have the filters for some separately but not for my particular model.
I would think that if you had them in three packs or twelve packs like other models it would be helpful.

| It was great |

I just had my generator hooked up on Thursday and the power went out on Sunday. The generator came on and powered the house just like it was suppose to, it was great.
My experience with Electric Generators Direct was outstanding. The generator was delivered within 5 days of when I ordered it.
The only problem I had is with the carrier that delivered the generator. I talked with them the night before it was delivered and left my call back number and told them to call me before delivery so that I could be present when it was delivered.
I received NO phone call and when I came home they had left the generator halfway on the sidewalk halfway in the lawn. There was damage to the battery and the cover for the service disconnect was bent up. Really unprofessional!!!!!!!!!!
However, if you are looking to add a generator to your home or business, I highly recommend Electric Generator Direct. They have the best prices by a long shot. I am satisfied with the end result.

| Saved me a lot of $$ & time |

I am impressed with the excellent service that Electric Generator sDirect provides. My husband did a lot of research and finally, I called in the order.
This supplier saved me a lot, $$ and time. In fact, the service agent was surprised at the price, tax free and free delivery.
The freight was excellent, the driver offered to use his pallet jack, and transport the generator into my garage. I opened the box, the product was in perfect condition.
I used a certified installer; he finished the installation in one day and the Generator works like a dream. It beats the bigger generators in having a GE engine.
I recommend the supplier and the transporter to anyone who wants peace of mind. |

| A delight to hear it test itself |

This Company really is good for business. I ordered, I got a call, generator is on the way, it was delivered in Michigan on the specified date in perfect condition.
This generator beats the competition hands down. I had a Honda and a Briggs; they were nothing like this one- it's precise and packs a lot of power.
I got it put in by a certified installer in less than a day and it is a delight to hear it test itself. |

The Express Trucking Company driver was so kind to unload and place the Generac 20KW in my garage. The product arrived 100% Perfect.
The generator is installed and works like a dream. This has an excellent GE engine and started the first time. Make sure your installer is a certified electrician.

I live in Delaware, the place that was snowed in evidently for the first time in a very long time.
I am a paraplegic, I sleep on a hospital bed with an inflatable mattress. When the electricity dies, so does my inflatable mattress- then I sleep on the springs. If I was not 81+ years young, I probably would not mind it too much.
Apparently I am getting too old for this form of sleeping. The Generac 5744 has so far gone through two different weekly cycles, and everything worked as advertised.
I am a firm believer that our nation's power grid is old and decrepit, the same as myself, that is my reason for my recent purchase.
I did a lot of shopping before deciding which company to purchase this product from. Electric Generators Direct offered me the best price, especially when I learned if by paying by check i could also save approximately another $90.00.
I would highly recommend this company, everything including the delivery. My gas company, Southern States along with the installer, Climate Control, said the whole process was done in a very professional manner. |

From start to finish this was a most satisfying experience.
After helping me size my generator requirements I placed my order. It shipped that same day. In transit visibility was excellent. It was just like the UPS site where I could follow my generator every step of the way.
I ordered the liftgate option, which was just what I needed. The 18 wheeler arrived at my house, the driver lowered the generator with the liftgate, and rolled it into my garage.
The generator arrived so fast that it took me a couple of weeks to get my electrician and plumber on site to wire it up and connect the gas.
The generator fired right up and carried the whole house load. I saved nearly $2000 over local costs for the generator and transfer switch.

Purchase, shipping, and delivery was prompt, fast (two days), and completely uneventful.
I arranged installation myself. Pad and gas plumbing was $350; the electrician charged $500. Total cost for the 20KW unit was less than $5,500, about $1,000 less than lowest dealer estimate.
One dealer told me over the phone it would be at least $12,000.
Fifteen days after installation power went out, the unit kicked in exactly as advertised, and turned off when power came back 5 hours later so smoothly we did not notice it while watching TV!
So far, fantastic! A realtor tells me it adds at least 10K to the sale price and untold saleability of the home. |

| A cool and high tech sytem |

What a cool and high tech system compared with a portable unit.
I am very satisfied with everything except for gasket material that is stuck to the hinged lid. It should be applied to the top of unit instead.
Electric Generators Direct beat all other's price on the same unit. |

It was very easy to install. Excellent directions (STEP BY STEP). I had some help, so others may want to hire a licensed electrian. |

I researched generators for several months and made a decision to purchase a 20K Generac Generator.
I wanted a 200 Amp switch so the model 5744 met all my requirements. I also purchased the wireless monitoring system so I could control the generator from inside my home.
I visited several websites and determined Electric Generators Direct.com had the most information, and the customer service department helped me with all my questions.
I placed my order on-line and my generator with all the accessories showed up on time and in perfect shape. So far, so good- I was very excited to get my generator up and ready to provide me power on the next outage.
I started to look for a qualified electrician and plumber to install my new toy. I got several quotes and they varied from $2K up to $10K to install and that was just electrical, I still need the gas to be plumbed.
I started to worry I did not anticipate the cost of installation and this was a big mistake. Make sure you get several quotes for electrical and gas plumbing before you purchase your generator and don’t go with the first bid. I got 6 bids and finally found a local electrician and plumber that gave me an honest quote. The final installation cost for electric and plumbing came to about $2400.00 dollars.
I finally got my generator installed, tested and ready for action. I love the remote monitoring and it works great- I have the display sitting next to my bed for easy access.
We finally got to use our generator last week and it worked perfect: the power went off, the generator turned on for about four hours, and when the power came on it shut off. It worked great!

| Battery Charger should be pre-installed |

I love this unit in all respects except one- the battery charger is not pre-installed.
This is silly and ridiculous for such a well built system to need an add-on accessory to work properly.
It would not stop me from buying this unit again or recommending it but the battery charger should be a built in, pre-installed item and not come loose in a plastic bag. |

| Works great- What a deal! |

I bought this generator in February 2009. This summer the power has gone out twice, once for over 5 hours.
Both times it did what it was supposed to. It automatically transferred and ran the whole house (all three central AC units.) No hurricanes yet, but I'm glad to know it works as advertised.
I am very happy with my purchase.
BTW, the local quote here in South Louisiana that I received for the EXACT SAME generator installed was $18,680. My savings from purchasing the generator from Electric Generators Direct.com and finding my own installers were over $12,000. I'll type that again- $12,000. |

| Planning Ahead Got Us Through Ike |
