Q: Ref: 30216A
As an electrical contractor we have use arc fault circuit breakers on certain loads. This creates a problem with the neutrals. Is there an alternate panel I could use?
Thank,
Keith

Q: What sub panel can I use with the Generac 6378 if I was going with the full 16 circuits..(2nd. sub panel)..? Does it matter which brand the main panel is? ( Crouse-Hinds 150amp)

Thanks

by John Ross from New York on October 07, 2013

A: Thank you for your inquiry!

The Generac 10-circuit manual transfer switch, model 6378 can support a 30 amp, 240 volt sub-panel. Although, through the use of tandem breakers, you will be able to utilize as many as 16 circuits within this transfer switch. The make of your main panel will not have any effect on this device.

Q: Is this product pre-wired?
by Joe from Pennsylvania on September 30, 2013

A: Thank you for your inquiry!

While the Generac 6378, 30 amp 10-circuit manual transfer system will not come pre-wired, the material (wires & Flexible conduit) will be included in order for you to branch into your existing circuit panel. You will just need to provide the inlet box, power cord and generator to complete your emergency power system.

Q: Requires 2-Pole 60-Amp Breaker In Load Center (Sold Separately)
Why do I need this? I have a 200 Amp Panel.

House is mostly electric stove, washer/dryer, sump pump, oil burner heating system.

by George Mazurkiewicz from New Jersey on September 16, 2013

A: Thank you for your inquiry!

The 60 amp 2-pole breaker is used to carry power through your main circuit panel and allow it to energize this transfer switch. The Generac 6378 will consequentially operate as a sub-panel, eliminating the supported circuits from your main circuit panel. If you choose to provide safe and reliable back-up power, then you will want to do so in a reliable fashion.

By supporting the breakers within this transfer switch, you can be sure that you are only powering the circuits that count, without overloading your portable generator.

Nice Unit, Customizable
I purchased this unit because my service panel was very "fragmented" and I wanted to be able to get as much "on-line" as I could safely. The smaller 6 or even pre-wired 10 circuit units weren't going to make it for me. Once I connected my twin pole 15A for the well pump, one circuit for the furnace and one for my fridge, I wasn't going to have much space left to run much in the way of lights TV, computer etc. With THIS unit, by swapping out unneeded breakers for ones I... more

Does The Job
Hooked this up to a Generac XG 7000E watt generator. It wasn't difficult. The only issue I had was the conduit included wasn't long enough to meet my needs. I am very happy with the unit. Service from EGD was great for both the generator and transfer switch

Great Value
This transfer switch is well made. The breakers can be switched to suit your needs. The wattage meters are a nice bonus.
