Q: Why cant the Generac Nexus Advanced Wireless Remote In-Home Monitor be used to start and stop the generator remotely? It says in the manual it has this feature. Is this not true?

A: This unit only provided the capability to start and stop the unit to run the maintenance cycle.
These generators are automatic only and not designed for manual use which is why this cannot just start and stop the generator.
These generators have their own automatic weekly maintenance test.

A: No, the Generac Nexus Advanced Wireless Monitor (Model 5951) is strictly a monitor only and cannot be used to remote start a generator. Plus the Generac home standby generators are not designed for off grid applications. by Jim, Product Expert

A: These units have channels that can be changed. They normally change automatically if interference occurs but can be done manually. Information is listed on page 10 in the owners manual.

A: There is an installation process to install one of the Advanced Wireless Monitors. Generac and Electric Generators Direct recommend having a certified Generac dealer install the unit for you.

There is a Harness Adapter required for 22 - 60kW Liquid Cooled models.

It's the first thing I look at when I walk to the kitchen and pour my morning cup of Joe. Easy to install. Exceeded my expectations and well worth the investment.

Nexus Wireless Monitor
Ordered the Nexus wireless monitor from Electric Generators Direct,very pleased with the product and the service. This pretty little box really does ever thing that we hoped for, will start the generator (removes street power thru the transfer switch) or run at normal speed without affecting street power also can shut down the generator . Will check battery voltage, rpm's,log run time, plus a lot more . This is all done by wireless control from inside the house. Thank you again for offering this at a discounted price.

Works very good, completely satified with this product. I am now able to control my generator from within my home, excellent product. As a future enhancement it would be nice to get a new version that can be accessed via the internet within my home or on a iphone

I got my unit installed about a week ago and was extremely satisfied with Electricgeneratorsdirect.com The pricing was cheaper than HomeDepot and I got my unit delivered in a matter of days. The trucking company was excellent and I have had nothing but excellent review on everything.

My Generator Install
Ordered generator in July, took about 2 weeks to arrive do to payment with check saved the cost of the battery by paying with a check. I poured a concrete pad for the generator and installed the remote wireless controller.
The electrician could not start the install for 2 weeks due to completing a job and vacation. Transfer switch and wiring are completed,battery installed called for start up code all went well. Generator was checked out for proper operation,load shed worked properly electrical inspector came as we were finishing the operational check out.
Passed inspection and I am very happy with the generator and the install. Looks good too!

I ordered the QT02724ANAX 27 KW Generator from Generator Direct. I found the ordering process to be excellent, with as much expert advice as I could expect. The delivery time was more than reasonable, and their the truck was fitted with a power lift to make it easier to remove the 1000 lb crate.
However, the generator arrived without some important parts that should have been included, and should have been observed with any reasonable quality control system. First, it did not have a cover for the coolant overflow tank. I can't imagine any factory missing this!
When I contacted the factory, they said they would ship me a cover in 7 to 10 business days. I made it very clear that this was unacceptable, and I received a return call indicating it would be overnighted to me that day. I thought this was good customer relations, but should have been offered without my obvious annoyance-level.
Second, the regulator was missing a plug for the LP gas input. I called to see if this was needed, and the factory representative did not know. He said he would check with "engineering" and advise me as to the need for this plug. I never received a return call, so I just put a plug in the regulator for safety reasons.
The generator appears to be absolutely perfect, so I can't complain about the two obvious omissions, unless something else has been omitted, and this shows up in the future.
The remote control is really wonderful, and should be used by every purchaser who can afford the extra cost. It was very easy to install and program, and works perfectly.
The 200 amp transfer switch also works perfectly, and is a excellent match for the generator.
In summary, I am extremely pleased with Generator Direct and their ordering process, very happy with the Generac Generator, but displeased with their quality control procedures. A $10,000 generator should not be shipped without a coolant cap or a plug for the gas system.
