Q: Does this generac 5791 model has 220 voltage outlet? Tnx by Angelito from California on March 09, 2012
A: None of the inverter generators we offer have 240V output unless you look at the Yamaha EF6300iSDE or the Honda EU6500iSAC models. by Jim, Product Expert
Q: Do it run quiet I need something that I can take out to a park and it runs very quiet. I just want to no is it noise free. by Linda from Florida on October 02, 2011
A: Unfortunately, not all generator manufacturers provide their noise levels. Generac does not provide the noise level on this model.
If you are looking for the most quiet Honda has been known to be the most quiet. The Honda EU1000i is rated at 59dBA which is similar to the sound of normal speech.
Q: I was watching how to take care and maintain of generators and I'm confused when he said you can't wash it down with a hose. My concern than is... it's out in the rain...I just went through a flood and I have a 1/2 and 1/4 horsepower sump pump...just want to hook them up. by Tina Kepp from Pennsylvania on September 24, 2011
A: No portable generators are designed for use in the rain as they are not water tight and electricity and water do not mix well together. If use in the rain is required then a roof must be placed over the unit to protect it while keeping 3 sides exposed for proper air cooling of the unit.
Q: Can the generac ix2000 be hooked together with another ix2000 to increase to 4000 watts? There other models like Honda and Kipor that can be. by Ken Kercher from Wyoming on January 23, 2011
A: The Generac inverter generators cannot be paralleled together. There is no connection on the unit to do this. by Jim, Product Expert
Q: What is the noise level of the Generac IX2000? Why don't they list this info in the owners manual? by Fletcher Pastore from Virginia on January 23, 2011
A: Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, Generac, like many other generator manufacturers, do not publish the decibel ratings for their generators. This unit does come equipped with a Low Tone Muffler and the internal components are enclosed for Quiet Operation but I do not have a decibel number to give you. Currently, there are no industry standards or requirements for generator manufacturers to follow when testing their generators for noise. Due to this, manufacturers can test the noise level under any conditions they choose and, therefore, the results are not very reliable as each company will test under conditions that are favorable to their products. by Jim, Product Expert

Jim's Recommendation
This Generac inverter is very compact and significantly less money than the competitors. With an 800 watt inverter you can power a few small items for a decent price. Most people that are looking for a generator this small plan to run it at the campsite or to power a few lights, a laptop, a box fan or even charge a battery.
One of the benefits of inverters are the clean power they produce. Another attractive feature to an inverter this small, is size. This item weighs less than 28 pounds, so almost anyone can move it around.
If price is a concern for you, then this is the right model for you.

Generac iX800 Review
My Generac iX800 sucks but I guess you get what you pay for. Its not as it was advertised, it is very loud and it vibrates so bad that it dances across the floor and the rpm surges up and down regardless whether there is a load or no load. I just get the runaround from Generac and cannot find any dealers in Portland that can repair it or return it for warranty, I will probably just sell it on Craigs List at a loss and get a Honda and tell everyone to stay away from these pieces of crap.

The Hurricane
I love my Generator. I ordered it during a power failure and received it the next day. Used it that night and it was all I needed, except for the refrigerator. Ran most of my lights and 3 portable TVs. I thought it was a little loud but you couldn't hear it from the end of my driveway, which is not too long. It is certainly quieter than a generator. I'm ready for the next P.F.
I only wish it ran my refrigerator.

Generator Review
I bought the 800W unit solely for convenience because I have a large 10K generator. The 800W unit certainly has its place, but all-in-all, its capacity is limited. This unit is great for running a few lights and small stuff in camp.
It functions very well, performs up to the specifications, and is super portable. Follow the instructions and this unit cranks and runs very well after a short run-in. It would be real nice if it had a 12V dc outlet.
I am very satisfied with this generator and a very attractive price for the features included.

Generators
I am the Fire Chief for a small rural fire department in Oklahoma. We purchased 4 of these generators to light up emergency scenes with work lights. They have improved our ability to have a safe work area during times of emergencies.
These are one of the best investment we have made in a long time. The are very quite and do not impair our ability to communicate with each other either face to face or by radio.
