Bad Experience
The generator arrived very quickly after I ordered it, which was great. It was easy to set up. It took a few minutes to add the engine oil, connect the starter motor, add the wheels, etc. All was explained and easy to do. The problems started when I tried to start the machine. Pressed the starter button, not a single sound. I thought that battery might be discharged, so I charged it up using the supplied charger. No dice. I asked my contractor over to have a look. He's an expert in small engines. He couldn't figure it out. So, I called Generac. They said it was under warranty, but I'd have to get it to the nearest warranty center myself. This is a 300 lb item that won't fit in most cars. I complained, but they basically said tough. I could pay someone to come and pick it up, but that was my only option.
I was not very happy at this point. Fortunately, I figured out a way to transport it. Yesterday I stopped in to see how the repair was proceeding. Apparently, the thing needs a new battery and carburetor. This is on a brand new item!! This is not giving me a lot of confidence as to the quality of this product. I still don't have it back after 10 days, as parts had to be ordered.
Again, I'm not very happy. It doesn't appear that Generac stands behind their product. Sure, they repair it, but when it is entirely their fault, shouldn't they minimize my inconvenience by coming to get the item? The generator arrived very quickly after I ordered it, which was great.
