Q: Jim: I want to buy a protective cover for my Generac 5623 6500W portable generator (33.5" x 26.5" x 27.5"). Any recommendations for a cover that will fit this model of generator? by John G. Smith from Maryland on February 27, 2011
A: The Classic Accessories Large Cover will fit up to 8000 watts. We have tested these covers on all of the Generac GP model generators and other manufacturers.
Note: It is important to not include the wheels when measuring the width as the generator covers are not meant to cover them.
It took about 6 days to get my Gennerac 5680, I set it up in about 1/2 hour, I checked it out through my system running my whole house along with a 12000 btu AC unit and my well pump, worked fine. It's a gasoline generator with a manual start, it started with about 2 pulls. I had been using a 'Generac 6250' for about 12 yrs, it burnt up after the last Hurricane, it was very reliable so I purchased my new one through them. I hope I can get as many years out of this one.

Mainer
I bought this generator two years ago after our wild winter and ice storms killed the power for 4 and 5 days. I had it hooked up with the manual Gen-Tran 10 pole switch. Well I never had a power problem after those storms other than the occasional 1-2 hour thunderstorm outage, that is until Irene hit this weekend.
I have always run the machine 2-3 times a month for 10 minutes to test, it always started like a new car. I finally hooked it up yesterday after the power ran out at 11:00AM and it ran like a top. I have it running my well pump, hot water, microwave, fridge and a few small appliances and lights. Everything I need to live comfortably. Given that it was summer, My only real issue was I didn't want to lose any of the food in the fridge.
Living in Maine requires a back up at all times for power, if not the snow and ice storms, it's the wind storms taking down power-lines. I think the 8,000 watts might be a little overkill for me, but hey, I'd rather have the extra wattage for other things.

Absolutely The Best
Took 20 minutes to order. I got e-mail with expected delivery date within 1 day. Unit got here within 1 week. Right on time as promised.
Driver unloaded it and wheeled it into the garage and removed the pallet. I assembled it in 30 minutes.
Absolutly the best company, product and price. Businesses with this amount of customer care are rare today.

A great emergency generator
You can't beat the 5680 for the price. I saved a little by not going with the electric start. I have no issue with the pull start.
If you are looking for extremely quiet generator you will find this unit a little noisy, however, for occasional
or emergency use this is it. I used the reliance transfer switch that comes with the 10 foot power cord and inlet box.
The electrician installed the transfer switch and replaced three bad breakers in my regular power box for $300. It took him about 2 hours.

Rough and Ready
You can pay $150 more for the same unit with electric start, but why worry about a battery when this unit starts with a relatively easy pull. Generac has a super website to find dealers, part, service etc.
This is a powerful unit for the price. I utilized the Reliance 30A transfer switch with 10 foot power cord and inlet box.

Fast and easy purchase
It was very easy to purchase, it was done in about ten minutes. I did already know what one I wanted though.
I checked around on the Internet and this was the lowest price by $100.00.
I was impressed by the service, and would buy from here again.
