Q: What do I need to consider when running a computer or LCD television off of my portable generator? I currently have a 10hp Briggs and Stratton powered Craftsman generator. by Virgil Litterell from Oklahoma on February 07, 2011
A: The main thing to consider is the entire load you are connecting to your generator. The rule of thumb is to size the generator to 80% of the running capacity of the generator so that it has enough flexibility when a large load kicks on (refrigerator) the generator has enough power to handle it and not have to struggle which keeps the ability to output good voltage. It is the voltage drops that can damage/hurt sensitive electronics so it is important to not overload the generators. by Jim, Product Expert

Empty Warranty
The order from generators direct t arrived on-time and withhout instance, it took three days to arrive and was lift gate delivered on time and professionally to my home.
Two days later a licensed electrician installed the transfer panel and tested it. From order placement to final install it took 10 days. Shortly after installation I was encourage to evaluate our selection of circuits installed in the transfer panel. Upon doing so I found that a major kitchen circuit which included the dishwasher had been omitted. I called the electrician and he returned to my home and made the switch. During his second visit he noted that a 20amp. on the transfer panel was not working and suggested that I call Direct Electric, who suggested to me that I call Reliance Controls directly since it was their product and they were responsible for Warranty work and of returns.
At this point their written Warranty only provided for the repair or replacement of the switch, which is a problem since the panel had already been installed . I indicated this to the gentleman at Reliance and he said that this was all they could do, repair or replace, without any consideration for the front end expense of having to install it to find out that it failed. To me this Warranty is worthless, however he did say that he would send me out a new 20 am.circut breaker. I spoke to him over a week ago, and as yet to receive it. And when and it it does arrive, I will still be responsible for the additional cost of having it installed.
Needless to say I am not a happy customer.

Best there is!!!!!!!!
This is the best I've ever owned.
I have a transfer switch with many things on it so I just pick and choose what I want to run at any given time.
It starts up on one pull every time and it runs anything I want. I just can't run everything at once. There is no better quality on the market today.
I checked out every generator on the planet because I'm on Social Security and can't afford to buy junk. This machine will never let you down.

We were ready for Hurricane Gustav
This unit was purchased after Katrina and has sat in storage ever since.
I gassed it up after Gustav (2.5 years later) and it started on the first pull. It ran flawlessly for 72 hours straight until the power was restored.
It ran the fridge, microwave, overhead lights in 3 rooms, ceiling fans, and a television and more. I got 13 hours of power for each 4 gallon refill.
This is a great unit for surviving power outages, easily running the furnace, fridge and sufficient lights to keep the house operating. Easy to hook up transfer switch. Totally recommend this unit.
The 3500 watts is more than adquate to run a furnace, freezer, refrigator, tv and a few lights. With reasonable power management coffee pots, micro-waves and other small appliances are all usuable.
A perfect generator for the average house to insure survival. Have used twice for two day power outages.
Ordered on Monday, got it on Friday, Looks great! Runs quiet and has power to spare. I'll be ready for that next Ice storm! Mike and the others at E.G.D are the best.
